when I had my car there was no known byte / bit in Vagcom to get rid of the beeps. The seat belt warning was possible, stopping the handbrake coming on when open the drivers door could be turned off etc but not the engine on beeps. Pressing the left arrow button the on steering wheel will mute them, but only for that time; next time you open the door it will beep again and you'll need to press that arrow button again.

That mute button is enough to soothe my mind. Thanks MikeFish - I didn't know we could do that
