Then you want Thule bike carriers, either pro-ride 598 or fork mounted outride 561. The outer two on mine are pro-ride (older model) and the middle is fork mounted as pro-ride won’t clamp round that bike frame.
Which roof rack setup you are using on your car? I need fit 3 bikes

Thule wing bars + Kamei Dolphin have worked for us for past couple years (on C6).

Even at spirited runs at 200kmh it’s super stable. And to mention, no whistling or any such like noises.

Hope that helps!

Yes you need roof bars and bike racks. Thule pro-rider bike racks are good, depending on bike.

Can anyone tell me the product code for the Black Thule Edge Wingbar? Is it the 9593B for the C7?

I’ve found a couple that will deliver but it doesn’t specify if they are the specific C7 fit.

Hi all, I also have Thule roof bars, I went for the 'Slidebar 891' and they are superb, once you have all your bikes on, the whole 'unit' slides out from the car to save you having to lean against the car to get to the middle racks. Yes it might be less aerodynamic but the fact of not scratching my P&J far outweighs the fuel economy! They were no more noisy than the Aero bars I had previously on my BMW...

I have had 3 MTBs + 1 Road bike on there...(could easily get 4 MTBs) - MTBs on the Thule 598 and Road bike on the 561.

Depending on how far and fast you are travelling, I find it much better to just losen the stem and rotate the bars inline with the toptube and then mount all the rear wheels at the front. IF you mount with front wheels at the front, the front wheel will vibrate\shake with the wind.

I recommend this because when we travelled to Switzerland a few years ago, I had 3 road bikes and the center one was mounted with the front wheel at the front and the wind basically shook the front wheel and it completely wore through the tyre!! But this was travelling 800KM at motorway speeds.

I wouldn't buy anything other than Thule...

Cheers,
Lig.

Thanks for the info Lig,

I’ve toyed for years with the slide bars but have never met/heard anyone running them. I’m very tempted to give them a try! Nothing worse than having to lean against a dewy/rain wet car to load everything up. Not to mention the stress of not scratching your car.

Craig.

Hi Craig,

Yeah they work a treat! although you do have to be a bit careful when mounting the bike racks as if they are twisted at all i.e not in line, then the slide element can be quite stiff. I put all 4 bike racks on loosely (without tightening them up), then check the slide action after each one is 'clamped' just to make sure the slide action is smooth... I also mounted the bars a bit closer together than the marks on the inside of the fixed roof bars just so the bars are more level. You will see what I mean if you go for it.

Cheers,
Lig.

Cool thanks Lig,

I hurried up and bought some slide bars after reading.

They should be with me tomorrow. And thankfully as I’ve always kept foot packs and bars from other cars I had some that already fitted. I really should think about selling some! It’s quite ridiculous! Haha.

Can’t wait to see some of the bikes on the roof of the RS6. I used to get some strange looks rocking up to the trail centre in my Laguna Seca Blue E46 M3. Best being Cannock in winter with the winter tyres on and 2 bikes on the roof and thick snow on the ground! Love it!

Craig.
