CAR JUST STOLEN
Re: CAR JUST STOLEN
My neighbour had 3 masked men kick his door in and threaten him and his wife for the keys to their RS6. Mine was sold not long after this.
Re: CAR JUST STOLEN
It does seem more common than you think having talked to the police a bit the last few days, not just RS6's either.
Police have found my other car, thieves (clearly the same ones) stole two more cars on Sunday night and police managed to give chase, cars were dumped and nearby was the other car, on false plates but otherwise it seems undamaged, just waiting for forensics to finish up. Sadly they didn't catch them though.
Not really sure how you combat this type of crime, if they are prepared to threaten physically then no amount of Ghost System etc will stop them, I guess trackers are the best for having a chance of getting the car back but that's post event.
FWIW two things generally happen to the cars, either broken down for parts (where they are sold I don't know) or shipped abroad/stolen to order.
I suspect mine was the latter for the RS6, and fortunately the other car was blocking it in so they had to move that so took it anyway.
Stay safe everyone,

Re: CAR JUST STOLEN
Glad you are OK - and I agree I just dont know what you can do to stop this. Having been through this myself I do feel for you. And its not just RS's its pretty much anything nice - but should we let that stop us having them.......I dont want to live in fear but I also want to have the car I want too. In my case the car was stolen for a ram raid robbery, highly organised and well known the the Police, but the lack of forensics actually placing people in the car is always the issue.
Re: CAR JUST STOLEN
Yes I find there are 3 types of thieves;
1. Joyriders, usually will steal any car as long as its easy enough and dump it / burn it afterwards. Generally kids / teenagers.
2. As mentioned above stolen for parts or shipping abroad. Organised and stolen to order. Generally any nice car will be on their list. Gangs might pay scumbags 10k or so to steal any car on the list
3. Armed robbers / ram raiders to use as a getaway car. Unfortunately, the RS6 is a perfect getaway car and these are the least of the 3 options I'd want threatening my family.

Re: CAR JUST STOLEN
I had three armed guys plus a driver break into my house two weeks ago for my C43. All masked and wearing grey tracksuits/hoodies and caps. Took them 5 minutes to get through the back doors and I honestly think they thought our alarm system was a dummy as they stayed in the house 20 seconds and left, just picking up my son's school bag and my wallet/sunglasses. Emptied his bag in the street.ab54666 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 10:29 amIt does seem more common than you think having talked to the police a bit the last few days, not just RS6's either.

Stay safe everyone,
90 minutes previous the same guys stole a Cayenne from Edgware and 13 minutes (yes 13 minutes) after trying ours they tried to steal an M3 from the next town along.
My advice......leave your keys out and let them take your car. I'd rather that than a knife in me or my family. If you resist or hurt them they will be back for revenge.

Re: CAR JUST STOLEN
Last year 2 guys turned up on a motorbike and broke into my mates house whilst he was working away.
Kicked the backdoor in, found the keys to his garage and stole his 6 month old Triumph motorbike.
Other high value items left untouched (laptop, high end mountain bikes etc) so totally professional job.
They rode off on it and it was likely into a white van within 5 mins never to be seen again.
The police said it was stolen to order and would either be broken for parts or sold on in another country.
The most worrying part was that they said the DVLA database had been hacked and its contents available on the dark web for these gangs to target specific vehicles.

Re: CAR JUST STOLEN
Did you hear anything more about this car Andy or the thief's they caught?
For those who don't know, this was my old car. I sure did miss it when Audi brought it back off me

Re: CAR JUST STOLEN
Sorry not been on here much
no, no sign of the RS6, over 2 months now so the chances of in turning up are more than remote! That said I don't think the insurers would let me know anyway, they now own the car.
And no again, the police have been lets say less than helpful! But I can highly recommend Churchill Insurance, were brilliant all the way through and paid out very quickly. Interestingly as well just had my renewals through, on the mini went up £11 and the RS6 policy (changed to a Golf for now) was roughly the same as the mini (1/3rd of the RS6 price). So my fears of the policy being loaded for giving them nigh on £47k worth of claims was a welcome surprise!

Re: CAR JUST STOLEN
Hello All,
So - I finally come back to this forum (after 7 years as it turns out my profile tells me since I sold my B6 S4) as I’m starting to research buying an RS6.
The reason - because my Full Fat Range Rover has just been stolen from outside my house in London after 15 days owning it.
What do I find? A post about an RS6 being stolen in a bit of London literally 5 mins away from me.
FFS. Clearly it’s a cooking boggo estate car for me then.
I was feeling all good as the one I’m looking at has a CobraTrak 5 with the key cards so no one can do keyless theft and I was going to put a ghost on as well just to make it impossible but if they are smashing in while the OP was in the house thats a whole other level.

IMO if they want the car bad enough they'll get it.Edmond wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 10:45 pmHello All,

When they came for mine the police officer's advice to me was ''be very careful when driving in the dark and particularly when pulling up at home as they could be waiting for you''.
Brilliant.

Re: CAR JUST STOLEN
Thanks Shane,
Am wondering how much steal to order goes down when the new model is out - i.e now the new RS6 is out is the "old" car less attractive I wonder? Certainly I never worried about my previous gen range rover as the new shape was out.
Also how sensitive they are to spec - i.e. it appears no one at all wants the comfort seats - I actually quite like them - there are various cars which are silver (which also no-one seems to want) and debadged (also no-one wants) which if I slam it on a PCP I won't care about for resale - but might just lower anyone wanting to nick it as it'd doubtless be at the bottom of the list!

Re: CAR JUST STOLEN
I went Floret silver and de-badged, and smaller 19s on my new RS4 - very low profile. Perfect!Edmond wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 10:35 amThanks Shane,

Re: CAR JUST STOLEN
Exactly what I'm thinking of!
There's a couple of debadged daytona greys around but Floret seems even less noticeable!
I'm also busy checking out datatag - am thinking that if you literally cover every bloody part in microdots and their tiny rfid transponders (they give you big Sticker for the window) that's going to put off anyone going at it for parts at least! Just found an article with excerpts from organised theft rings whatsap groups - an RS6 would be sold on for less than £3k once nicked if it isn't going abroad!

Re: CAR JUST STOLEN
Supply and demand.... What ever the customer wants then the scum will go out and pinch that model as they want to be able to move it on immediately and not have to store it somewhere. Ive been offered full cars for £2.5k when i was looking around for some facelift parts on an A5. Colour, model, year etc are all specified when you 'request' a car.
We can lock OBD ports and relay theft blocker will be available soon but no doubt the toe rags will find another way to take it. Annoying thing is the manufacturers be it audi, RR etc have no concern at all about the flaws in their systems.

Re: CAR JUST STOLEN
My neighbours RS6 was stolen and used in an armed robbery. 3 of them (masked) kicked his door in and threatened him and his wife for the keys. Doubt they are worried about colour and spec or datatag, in fact a sleeper one might be even more attractive. And they are the exact type of car thieves I wouldn't want kicking my door in.
