If you want to tune an RS6, buy a C6 its responds better and theres big gains to be had in the chassis too, it is the stronger car and there not really depreciating. Buy a C7 if you like light steering, gadgets and a more showy car but personally i wouldnt map one as too many are blowing up. Obviously they depreciate more than the value of buying a low miles C6, that was the reason i didnt go ahead with the brand new C7 i was offered.

Well I've done the natural progression C5 to C6 and now C7. Very sad I know but I did quite a bit of forum surfing before I purchased each one. Checking all known problems and possible costs.
The C5 was mainly gear box and DRC but I never had any problems with either and sold a really nice car on after 3yrs of ownership it was also MTM mapped.
The C6 was mainly 50 pence oil seal and coolant pipes again never had a problem with either and sold on after 3yrs of ownership again MTM mapped a total monster πŸ‘
The C7 after surfing the forum no obvious problems unlike the first two. After only 5 months of ownership and totally standard un mapped I have a total engine failure and a warranty claim touching nearl Β£40k.
The C7 is still the way to go hopefully this is just bad luck. Can't wait to get it back πŸ‘πŸ‘
This scares me, so glad you have cover, this is why I'm holding back to pay 50k + without standard and cover

Hope you get all sorted soon

OP already has a mapped C6.

Other than that legendary V10 there really isn't much else to write home about regarding the C6, i'm not sure what gains you could possibly get from a chassis which is 15 years old and no matter how much money you throw at the C6 it will never handle like a C7. Plus other than the few engines failures which have been reported on the forum i've yet to hear of any other stories - and as we all know forums always amplify issues.

This discussion reminds me of the B5 v B7 debate - time and technology moves on.

I wouldn't say like that, c7 has very reputable engine that can hold easy 700 hp and 1000 Nm of torque
