Yes I think the plastic key is initialised. Point I'm making it is more than just an immobiliser chip needed in the key to start the car.

Ps and is your Knob nearly yellow.

It was yellow bit the antibiotics fixed that.

I'm sure I could start my RS6 with the plastic key and it defo had 3 keys on the MMi. And I've been out and tried the SQ5 with the plastic key and that definitely starts with the plastic key and the MMi shows 3 keys in that as well.

Plastic key unlocks and starts the car. Regardless of knob colour

my MMI showed 3 keys but i only have 2.

The emergency key was just the plastic holder (for starting the car) but it didn't have the actual key inside it.

AFAIK the emergency key can be used to open the doors with the actual lock then it's placed inside the fob holder to start the car.

I had audi remove all keys and just re-install the 2 i have.

That means there are 1-3 keys out there which are un-accounted for and actively registered to your car. You only need somebody who has those keys to know where it's kept and they might as well have a free RS4. Douche.

The point was that I thought someone at the garage that serviced it had had a duplicate made with the intention of stealing it. But maybe I shouldn't be too worried as these cars aren't worth nicking.
As it happens I'm just a paranoid plonka but as the saying goes "just cause your paranoid doesn't mean people aren't trying to get you"

lol it was just and irony, I understand if you buy used car, then you should worry, but if you buy car from a dealer than it's not important

It should matter from whoever you buy it from. I'd be more concerned if it was fresh from a dealer (with all my location details) and an extra key which i didn't hold.

Normally it should be 3 keys initialised: 2 with chips and one plastic

They'd only want to steal it if it has a Miltek and a ABT/MTM tuning box.
