Testing the water... possible sale
Re: Testing the water... possible sale
Dealers won't be given a choice, as Ian says, the stock was put into the network, where it then festered.
Re: Testing the water... possible sale

Re: Testing the water... possible sale
In the dry yes, but we live in the UK where in some cities it rains on average 1/2 the year.Afsimba wrote:Had a look on autotrader at m5 65 plate free servicing till 2021 and 2 k dealer contribution take price to £50500 with 5k on clock are audis over inflated car prices all that ? Re: Testing the water... possible sale
Yup and my cars out 1 day a week if it's lucky and does 5k a year at a push ! What's your point caller ?
Re: Testing the water... possible sale
An M5 would be out 1 day a week for 26 weeks of the year!!
Re: Testing the water... possible sale
That's about as much as I would use it anyway ! never wanted a BMW for any reason but Audi and everyone else over valuing Rs6s for money that people are paying but isn't In em is not going to be my downfall I'm stupid enough without they're help,
Re: Testing the water... possible sale
BMW supported the M5 from launch whereas Audi kept the RS6 price close to list for a good couple of years. Over the last 2yrs Audi have been chucking £12k+ at the RS so used M5 prices have remained lower but the new price of the M5 was about £15k lower for 3yrs so the difference now is relative. Also BMW offered 0% finance for a year & also heavily supported lease/CH deals.
As someone who's had an F10 M5 for 3yrs & for 2 of those it's been putting out 750bhp & 700lb.ft, I can tell you it's usable the whole year round. Winter tyres make a significant difference from Nov to Feb & when it's full on pi55ing down you do need to take a little extra care, but the minor sacrifice is more than worth it.

Re: Testing the water... possible sale
Why is it 'over valued' or 'over inflated'?
An object is worth whatever someone is willing to pay. The reality is an RS6 is a more desirable car than the M5.
I personally think the RS6 looks fantastic, and was a big part of me choosing to pay for the privilege. Its steep price, as some consolation, means they are exclusive. I wouldn't want to be on a journey in an M5 being - inevitably - surrounded by a load of 5 Series 'M Sports'.
I'm in Monaco at the moment and the most popular cars are Bentley, Rolls Royce, Ferrari FF and... the RS6. For me it is just hugely more desirable as a package and clearly i'm not the only one with that belief.

Re: Testing the water... possible sale
I'm not sure it's exclusive. C6 and C5 probably fit that bracket with very low numbers.
I see quite a lot of RS6s around me, more so than E63 or M5 as it happens.

This
RS models have been watered down more than M sport and AMG.
Fact is prices are overinflated against other Marques.....the prices for 2013 cars for example is taking the piss big time.
Audi been getting away with it for years.....I'm glad a few other brands are going 4WD to challenge them....

All three of the main German manufacturers 'performance' models have been watered down imo - Merc & BMW just as much as AudiRS6chris! wrote:doodlebug wrote:I'm not sure it's exclusive. C6 and C5 probably fit that bracket with very low numbers.

For example, the previous generation, you had just the one C class AMG model. Now you have three - the AMG, AMG S, and C43 AMG. Ditto the E class etc. BMW started bringing back their sub M branding M135i M140i three or four years ago etc etc

Re: Testing the water... possible sale
I like understated cars, but my particular issue with the M5 is it went to far - way too boring to look at. The RS Audis get the arches, which give them real presence on the road.
If people are seeing lots of RS6s, then it clearly validates my argument that the car is not 'too much' money.
Comparing it to a C5 or C6 is not really a like-for-like comparison, as finance has opened up accessibility to expensive cars exponentially in recent years. For example, i had a MK6 Golf R for a couple of years and probably saw 2 others in my ownership of the car. Today, i probably see 2 Mk7 Golf Rs every day! Finance and the snowball of commercialism has meant they are selling more luxury and performance cars than ever.
I might see 1 RS6 a week if i'm lucky. I probably wouldn't notice an M5 because they wouldn't catch my attention.

Re: Testing the water... possible sale
As does the M5. Front & rear track are wider with flared arches at the rear. The only difference is the RS6 has squared off rear arches so yes a touch more pronounced, but like for like the M5 is 'just' as distinguishable from other F10's as the RS6 is from other C7's. Totally different front & rear, different front arches with the M grilles, quad pipes, different wing mirrors, different wheels & M only colours (this one frustrates me now though as BMW have such a range of colours, the M only colours are not as different as they used to be).robf wrote:I like understated cars, but my particular issue with the M5 is it went to far - way too boring to look at. As per doodle, i see more Audi RS6's on the road than i do F10 M5's, but accept more M5's were sold. One other factor is the M5 being Saloon only does blend in more as most F10's on the road are also Saloons (& for sure alot of them out there). Most C7's i see are also Saloons so the Avant only RS6 does appear to stand out a touch more due to it being an Estate.

Re: Testing the water... possible sale
Prior to this RS6 I had an amazing offer on an E63 Estate from MB as they were pushing them. At the time I was looking for that car the offers on M5's were pretty serious as well. If I had not been in the market for an estate the M5 would have been neck and neck with the E63.
The E63 racked at £67k
I had it on a personal operating lease (not PCP, more like rental) 2years, 12k per annum.
3+23 payments at £554/month including VAT. I was stunned. I signed quickly.
I nearly bought it off the end of lease but MB said they wanted £53k for it.
It went back through BCA who handle MBs lease ends apparently, sold to someone for £39k. I would have paid that happily.
You can find a load of these on the market for £40k through dealers currently.
Irony is it sold to a bloke living in North England. Three months ago I park the RS6 in Oracle car park Reading. I come back an hour later and my exact car (LL63OSE) is parked next to the RS6. Weird.
