Yes carbon and lengthy warranty. Belfast Audi picked up the bag of sh*t they sold me today, so as soon as I have cash refunded I'll be ready to make a serious offer. Really liking this one....

Looks in good condition, decent spec, wheels look good and leather doesn't look worn, and it's done no mileage. Nothing will substitute a proper visual inspection of course, but in my mind it's worth a plane trip and long drive home. As long as you have it in writing that you'll get all your money back if on arrival you don't want it for whatever reason, I'm not sure what you've got to lose (other than an day and a couple hundred quid for a flight).

I flew from the south coast to Aberdeen (Audi garage) to pick mine up and drove home, without seeing it in the flesh before and it was exactly as described and a great deal.

Best of luck

My thoughts exactly. Hopefully sort out a deal in the next couple of days. Will keep you posted!

Kerbed wheels and what loos like stone chips on the bonnet?

I know you're keen to replace the one you were sold, but there are lots and lots of cars out there so personally I think there are better ways of spending your £60k than on a 2+year old example at an indi which hasn't been prepped to a decent standard.

The paint looks quite dull as well, so judging by the state of the wheels it's not been washed cared for properly for a while.

The problem you face is the market is about to fall out of the bottom of them as GFV values of PCP's start hitting. As soon as that happens the market will be flooded and prices will tumble. Until then the dealer market is fixing at a price to protect invested cars.

If you plan to keep it for many years and don't mind taking a bath on the residuals, then go for it. But, think of it this way, is that car in the video worth a £15k premium over the other one you bought, I'd say not.

Not wanting to put a downer on things because I know it's an exciting time. My post is more to urge you to put things into perspective and try not to get caught up in the 'chase' for a car that isn't perfect to you.

The Belfast car looks to be an anomaly price wise Kmpowell, it will probably be another year before you see the earliest RS6's at £45k.

I do agree though, if Carrera cars want £60k for this RS6, then they need to sort out the 2 kerbed wheels at the very minimum. I would want to see close ups of the bonnet for stone chips. It's a 2yr old car, inevitably there are going to be a few but I would want to see that there were only a few and not a few hundred. If that's the case, you could negotiate a bonnet respray.

I don't agree that the bottom is away to fall out the RS6 market, cars being ordered this time last year for example had 3yr residual values set at £46k, they've only recently dropped to £38k over the last 6 months or so.

Are there any other sub £50k priced RS6 cars around? Considering the earliest cars are near enough 3yrs old now, I'd say they have retained very good value so far.

SH14OLW? Thought I recognised the plate:

viewtopic.php?f=76&t=116475&p=751655&hi ... lw#p751655

I looked into it last year. It was on with Glasgow, Basingstoke (same group) looked into it and it had had two owners, the last one offloaded it due to "gearbox software" issues. Didn't get any more details that than - and this was from a stealer so pinch of salt. Just thought I'd share.

[Edit - I realise 'gearbox software issues' is a flaky reason to offload a car; my point is just that somebody has apparently felt the need to get rid with a sense of disappointment]

The current 'book' trade value for the car at Carerra is £42-45k depending on condition. So if Belfast can put an older car on for £47k, they would have traded for circa £40-£42k.

The bottom of the C7 RS6 market is artificially inflated at the moment due to the lack of cars, so screen prices are consistent and high. It'll only take a fair chunk of the initial 2/3 year PCP's coming to an end and suddenly the large margins will have to drop. Personally I think the Belfast car was realistically priced and other 13/63/14 plate cars are over priced given the stock movement in this area is very slow under it dips close to £50k. What a car is selling for and what it actually sells for are two different things.

I've been watching the bottom end of the market with interest for a while, but my head has stopped me making a move purely because I know what these cars are 'trading' at, and I'm not willing to take the minimum £10k bath as soon as I drive off in it.

The initial PCP returns are already in the market. You're going to take a bath whatever. It's a car.

Agreed Leo, but i tend to agree with Kev that the market for these cars is sat at an unusual point. The gulf in price between new/used is very small as Audi are now discounting the cars at quite impressive levels so this will no doubt impact those used cars on the market that are lets say quite rich, they've no doubt tried to balance this by dropping the GFV's. Also as the model is approaching 3yrs old those that bought new new will likely be moving on as the warranty period ends so an increase in used stock is also likely.

What may help & it's only a guess is the PE i'd assume will become the desirable model being bought new & thus may bolster the value of used non PE's with not many new ones being ordered.

Not really, Audi do the majority of PCP's over 3 and 4 years, so those cars are only just starting to get 'handed back' to Audi and hitting the market.

you know i briefly thought it might be that car but a second later i dismissed it as it couldn't possibly sill be hanging around!

Now i have woken up - I personally would avoid this one. Loads more fish in the sea and all that ......

What does gearbox software issues mean? Surely car can't be discounted on this basis, especially when has manufacturers warranty until 2019?! I am very keen on this one as also has service plan to 2019. Can anyone elaborate further?

It doesn't specifically mean anything, but clear it's had issues. You really don't want a known starting point being a cat with a history of issues.

Hi, I wish I could provide more detail. We're talking about a conversation with a stealer last year. He was effectively warning me off a car sold within his own group so I didn't feel a need to ask for any more detail - and I'm not sure he would have provided it either. Could be total BS - just thought I'd mention it, especially as you've had one 'experience' already. However, it you get a trusted indie to check it over, problem solved.
