Re: Tyres!
I had the MPSS on the E63 and they were very good. It arrived on the Conti Sp/Cntct 3 which were okay but the MPSS were a lot better. To help the back end grip I tried a set of Dunlop Max Sport Race tyres. These are essentially track day tyres and they certainly act that way.
When warm they were a BIG increase in grip, confidence and breaking. But cold - they could have been Teflon finished. When you first drive the car they were always spinning like they were in a puddle. You had to put some energy into them to make them get up to temperature. It made it a problem to avoid wheelspinning when coming out of gaps in rush hour.
If they got cold (puddles) they went off again. If they remained warm then going through water was not actually an issue.
However they only lasted 4,500 miles. Partly due to the spin-when-cold issue and also because they do tend to make you push it harder once warm.
Great if you want to dump money into tyres and really push the edge of the envelope but not the best bet for public roads and traffic. I would stick with the MPSS or similar in future.
I have had some good experience with some Vredestein in the past. Not well known but actually did well.
