So far they are being pretty cool about it with a decent deal, plus its not too much of trek for me! Just umming-and-rring of spec now :-P
Aye. I'm pretty close to sorting an order. Will fester until New year though. Have you talked deposits?

Hey Doodlebug - like you will be mulling it over the holidays. They are after 10% deposit which i thought was a little steep given that i thought they'd have no trouble shifting it should i bail, but they say its the policy for any RS product.

the spec i've gone for (so far):
- Estoril Blue
- 21" x 9.5J '5-twin-spoke' design titanium-look alloy wheels with 285/30 R21 tyres
- Adaptive cruise control (ACC) with braking guard, Audi side assist and Audi active lane assist with pre-sense plus
- Audi hands-free boot opening system with Advanced key
- Audi Parking System Advanced with top view
- Audi Warranty 4yr 75000 miles
- Digital TV Reception
- Dynamic package Plus
- Exterior mirror housings in carbon
- Heat and sound-insulating glass with privacy glass
- Heated front and rear seats
- Load-area fixing kit
- Manual sunblind for rear window and rear door windows
- Mobile telephone preparation – High with Audi connect
- Panoramic glass sunroof
- Power door closure
- Rear side airbags
- Sports exhaust

Seems to be pretty common type of items going by the other postings on here.

Anyone getting a good deal...?

Post by doodlebug » Mon Dec 16, 2013 9:23 pm

Mines all but the same, no sunroof for me. Had one in the last RS6 and could count on one hand the number of times I opened it! No TV, for the same reason. Would love to tick the B&O option, but can't justify it. Ceramics are a no brainer for me.

I have the same issue with the deposit, but I do understand where they are coming from. Given the discount it's probably worth it, but it's still a lot of cash to put on the table up front. It's the dynamic pack that tips it into premium territory and would make it harder to shift.

Am I right in thinking that you have to get the tv tuner to get dab radio? If not will prob drop the tv as I've got it on current car and have used it for about an hours worth of viewing in total over the years....

As for sunroof, I use mine a fair bit.

Would love the B&O and carbon pack but £10k for the pair is a bit daft really

I don't think you need the TV Tuner to get DAB. I certainly hope not! The brochure mentions nothing about needing the TV and just mentions DAB under "MMI Plus"

I use my sun roof from time to time and nice to have a panoramic so I went for it.

I mulled over the carbon pack vs the Aluminium. In the end I decided that Aluminium (IMO) looked better on the Daytona grey car than carbon AND aluminium is cheaper and really, you need the carbon mirrors too if you go carbon (again imo).

I don't need ceramics really, I doubt I will ever track the car.

I might have gone for the exclusive leather & Alcantara headlining, I like Alcantara headlining and like some leather on the dash but it might have delayed the car and the cost is high so I didn't.

DAB standard, TV not required.

Cost of ceramics offsets cost of replacing steels every 15k miles at several k a go.

Hell Doodlebug you must do some serious braking! I haven't had to replace discs on a car for a very long time although I know the quattro system can be heavier on them.

Just a note on the deposit side of things - I only had to put down a £5k deposit for mine, so I don't think that 10% is an actual Audi requirement (and my original local conceited dealership were talking about a £10k deposit, so I think it is just down to how much each dealership will try to get from you up front).

According to a salesman I trust (he's sadly moved on), the C6 ceramics lasted around 50k, replacement costing 6k. We all love man maths, but I don't think the justification for choosing ceramics is an economic one, although maybe the saving on alloy wheel cleaner will seal the deal.

The salesman's maths had gone to pot. Ceramics good for 100k plus, tracking will of course reduce.

Wave discs and pads 2k to replace on RS4, expect more on RS6.

Re deposits it's down to the dealer and their risk management.

Amar's ceramics only lasted 50k because the car was used in numerous vmax and track day events and had 750ps

Normal road use will see them last 200k, hard track use will halve or quarter this

For comparison, NudeNut took his 750PS C6 to vmax and cooked a set of pads and discs in ONE day! They were replaced by the dealer after the event... So it all comes down to type of use, and like for like, the ceramics last much longer

Correct about the deposit not being fixed, I put down <5%.

Unless you're putting Winter tyres on the C7, good luck in thinking it will handle any better than the M5 in snow:) It's the wheel/tyre size/compound that's gonna hamper your progress in snow, not AWD vs. RWD. Looking at your photos your M5 has the 20's but you're going for 21's on the C7? The C7 with Summer tyres on that size of wheel will slide around like a bitch in the snow i'm afraid. If swapping purely due to snow performance, you'd have been better off spending £2k & getting a decent winter wheel/tyre combo on the M5.

That said, the AWD of the C7 does have some minor advantage in other road conditions:) Nice car though :jump_clap:
