Standard v Sports Exhaust

Post by goram » Thu Aug 28, 2025 2:53 pm

Hi Everyone,

Looking to join the fold, and just wanted some views on standard v sports exhaust. Most of the dealers don't seem very clued up on the options fitted to the cars, so I'm just wondering if there is much difference on the exhausts? I'm not looking for a full on firecracking experience that an aftermarket option will give, however, I do want a little snap crackle and pop if you get my drift. Is a 'standard' exhaust decent enough to give this, or is it all muffle and no fun?

I've seen a few YouTube clips comparing 'stock' v militek and tbh the stock sounds fine for me, however, it's never clear whether the 'stock' exhaust is standard or the sport option.

Cheers!

Hello, personally I would buy Miltek and forget it, or use used akrapovic, but it’s more expensive

Not sure if the expense is worth it though - militek is £2500, plus it more than double's my insurance cost.

I have the Audi sports exhaust (black bezels in bumper) and have never heard a standard exhaust (chrome bezels). At the time when I was configuring I read many postings on many forums that the standard exhaust was too quiet with very little in the way of pops and bangs and quite subdued - so I went with the sports one. I get pops and bangs if I want however there is no drone or intrusion when cruising. Miltek and Akra if you are tuning seems to be a sensible investment and these obviously are much louder and poppy than the sports one. More than happy with my choice over the years, I am in my 50s so not much of a street racer - I know that for my son the first thing he would change would be the exhaust - Akra being the choice!
