Specialist for gearbox (ZF) oil service?

Post by Veedub » Tue Jun 04, 2024 9:51 am

Hi all,

I have the gearbox oil service kit from ZF and am now a little nervous about giving my local independent the go-ahead for the work, given some issues I've seen on this forum post oil change.

Does anyone have a recommended garage? I am willing to travel (I'd rather the job was done correctly and I don't cut corners on my cars!). I've asked my local Audi dealership but they gave the "sealed for life" line. A local Audi specialist also repeated the same line so I'm also a little reluctant to get them to do it.

It seems that ZF has a site in Nottingham, which I'm willing to do but wanted to get others' opinions/experiences.

FYI, just to follow up...

I called ZF in Nottingham earlier and they said (to summarise):
-They recommend an oil change at 150,000km/~90,000 miles
-An earlier change is recommended if operating in harsh (very hot, very cold) conditions AND/OR if the car is used to pull a trailer regularly
-At 50,000 miles (roughly my mileage) the technician said that there is unlikely to be any major benefit, but that I may notice an improvement in gear change (I've never noticed a problem to be honest)
