Standard C7 alloys + Potholes = 🤬

Post by saggybe » Mon May 13, 2024 3:26 pm

I'm curious how C7 owners are getting on with the state of UK roads? Having had 3 buckled alloys + 3 new MPS4S tyres I'm fed up now and planning on changing tyres or wheels.

My current car is a C7 Perf, on the original Perf alloys. Tyres: 285/30/21. I think 30 profile tyres on a 285 tyre are useless now due to potholes.

I'm considering...

Stick with the wheels and

1. Go to 285/35/21 100 Y XL (Gain some sidewall)
2. Go to 295/35/21 100 Y XL (Gain a tiny bit more sidewall)
3. Change wheels to the original 20" concave wheel with 35 profile tyres, possibly 40.
4. Change wheels to an aftermarket wheel, but it's overwhelming the amount of choice. The only thing I know is that I should go for a forged wheel (not cast or flow formed). Any brand recommendations?

Any other owners been through this? Thoughts welcome!

Cheers
