Silly question, but how you know when the cylinder deactivation kicks in?
If you are displaying the live MPG reading on the virtual cockpit display (bit between the speedometer and rev dials) then four cylinder mode is displayed in green text whenever its engaged.
Not sure what I'm not doing in that case as I always have the live mpg in that view and I've not seen green text!

I just did 2 cross country trips in Australia, in a 2016 RS6 Performance with a DS1 OTS stage 2 tune and a few other little bits. With this tune the 4 cylinder mode is disabled and I usually turn the auto stop start of too. The car does have the ceramic brake kit and 20" lightweight wheels with a slightly narrower 275mm tyre. And as Super7 said, I find that driving with the cruise control on as much as possible tremendously helps boost the economy, even without the stop/start and the 4 cylinder deactivation.

The first 3000kms I had an average of 9.9L/100kms, then combined with the return trip the average was 10.1L per 100kms, pic below. At one point I did 420kms and got it down to 9.2L before I topped the tank up and reset the short trip computer, but that was sitting on 100-105km/h with a few overtakes. Even driving through the hills near Adelaide it was only 11-12L's.

Previous to that, I had an average of 13.1L/100kms over the last 6100kms. The car had about 27,500kms on the odometer at the start of these 6100kms. I think the average speed was around 60kph.

The second pic is my economy moving the car from the back shed to the garage 👌

If that helps at all.

My 2021 RS6 would often display "4 Cylinder Mode" when I first bought it but I haven't seen it display that message in the last 12 months.
Can anyone help me work out how to get that display mode back?

Just down a Dorset to Calais via the Chunnel run. Steady (ahem) 70mph and returned 28.9mpg.
