From what I've been told the sunroof service is a scheduled item (2 year intervals from what I can gather - but the dealer was cagey about confirming this) Costs around £160 from my experience with main dealers, at the very least try to get them to prove when it was last done, if they can't show its been done insist its performed as part of the prep.

From my experience, which some has been picked up:
  • The Audi warranty does offer a massive piece of mind, as any issues can be resolved by the network. I like the reassurance any issues (I had a faulty glovebox resolved after purchase) will get done.
The MPC will check it's not been mapped, and brakes etc will need to meet minimum specs. This is why dealers don't like selling them used, as these costs can rise into their margin, against a standard A6 TDi.
The additional work is worth noting, as I found lots of cars didn't have these done, and it will be picked up at any dealer visit.

The Audi MPC has guidance on if they should be done (mine were), so I guess they will follow this and not do otherwise (as will come out of their margin).

so it turns out that they only do a visual inspection on the pads/discs so im not sure where these numbers are coming from and struggling a little with this dealer...

I have been sent some pictures and I suppose they look ok but if they cant give me any proper measurements im going to have to try and establish when the discs/pads were changed last

As said by many others buying from Audi with the warranty does give you peace of mind but on the other side the main dealers will do as little as possible to make the sale on the hope you either don’t notice or decide it’s not worth pursuing any issues. I know I work for a main dealer🤷‍♂️
As said discs will need replacing around 30k but these will be shown on previous service records. The main dealers can be difficult to deal with as they have so many cars passing through both new and used and are not overly bothered if one doesn’t sell to the first viewer.

Just to add a bit more information around the sunroof service, my local main dealer has told me that the sunroof service is due either every 2 years or 40,000 miles, which seems a bit daft as I guess for most owners 40,000 miles is at least 4 years so doubling the service cycle on a part which is prone to natural degradation over time. Another odd bit of information from talking the dealer, I've been quoted £1,102 for rear disks and pads (ie what I was expecting), or 'just' £642 for the pads as it wasn't clear from the inspection if both were needed, do they just make this stuff up on the spot?

mrmerle, Get the discs from Audi as there seems to be a shortage for those online and their price seems ok (£1102 minus £642), and get the pads from somewhere else for a fraction of the price.
Thanks
