Exhaust - Sound Advice Required..

Post by StewartW » Thu Jan 27, 2022 6:54 pm

Dear Group,

Ive recently bought a RS6 C7 PE and need some advice and options for replacing the exhausts..I love the sound when in dynamic / individual mode but would really like something a bit deeper and permanently open..Am I correct in thinking that you cant just replace the rear boxes and need to also consider the valve timing, fuels maps etc..I do like the Lichfield / Remus system but don't have the budget for a Full System / Stage 2 Upgrade.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated budget about £1000.

Pictures below for guidance / appreciation :beerchug:

Welcome, and as I got told when I joined last year - Rule No.1: FON

Can't answer your question, though I'm sure there's many on here who have more technical knowledge than me who will be able to help you, but your car looks a cracker, enjoy!

Full system looks expensive and I’m in the same boat as you. I want something a bit more. I think the stage 2 looks good and they replace the Downpipe. MRC or QST seem better than litchfield for Audis.

I’ve heard of some guys going to custom exhausts.

I don’t think I want a full system as I figure it could be to loud even just in comfort mode if on the motorway?

Good luck with the search!

Its a very grey area - hard to tell just listening to cars on YouTube. I've done Brondex catless downpipes as my starting point. This gives you a similar amount of sound down low in dynamic, but when it comes on boost the thing absolutely rips - sounds like world war 2 from outside the car.

If you just want a little more noise then standard, i'd look at something like the APR catback - either with or without the center muffler. Cheapest I've found going around and it looks like very decent quality.

My next step is going to be to fabricate a custom x-merge and deleting the center muffler - this should smooth out the tone (less thong clappy), and give me some extra decibels down low.

Here is how mine sounds now

Thank you, agree on not needing a full system. Ive contacted MRC and will hopefully get some much needed advice on options..they are also local so might pop down over the weekend for some friendly advice :thumb:

I am sure that you are right that they look. But they may not be thinking what you think they are thinking...

Thanks Tadass910, I been over to YouTube and heard a few systems today, agree the Miltek does sound nice and also don't want to change the downpipes (yet) :bigblink:
