Changing ACC speed in 1mph increments

Post by sasha320 » Sat Feb 01, 2020 1:01 am

I know the ACC speed can be adjusted in 5mph increments - is it possible to change the ACC speed in 1mph increments?

The only way I could figure out to do it was to press the accelerator slightly so the speed would increase by 1mph then press the Set button.

Just push the cruise control arm up to increase, or down to decrease - mine does 1MPH increments for each nudge.

Pretty sure on mine that made it change 5mph at a time.

Most ACC systems have different types of press, brief or slightly longer. Typically a quick prod will give 5 and a longer press 1 or if very long slow increments.

The C7 has 5mph increments. No option for less. The C8 will undoubtedly now be 1mph, in line with all other Audis of the same generation.

Yours indeed may - my 2014 pre-FL model definitely only increments 1MPH - and the new set speed just goes up by 1MPH on the dash, and the digital speedo then moves up just 1MPH, confirmed by my Road Angel. :kissmyrings:

I also have a preFL and sadly out of the box it is only possible, with ACC, to change the cruise speed setting in 5mph steps. With ACC there is an outer ring of rectangular leds around the Speedo (akin to the Rev counter) that correspond to the cruise speed chosen. Each one spans 5mph and I understood from my Local audi garage that this is why 5mph is the step size with ACC (maybe I am talking BS and all a6s with any form of cruise control have the ring of leds on the Speedo- I have never driven another C7 with or without ACC).

My wife’s Q5 has cruise but not with ACC and no LEDs around the Speedo - and it can be set in 1mph steps as could my old non ACC A4. We both would prefer the RS would move in 1mph steps- so if there is a way on cars with ACC I’d like to know. I have tried all the blip/flick/hold permutations with the control stalk in the past trying to achieve this and in an RS it is all too easy to end up way over the speed limit- so if you are trying to find the Magic sequence take care :D

Do you have Adaptive Cruise Control or vanilla Cruise Control? Perhaps the 5mph increment is for ACC only?

As I mentioned above, the best way for me was to reach the set speed then press the acelerator gently until the speed increased by 1mph then press the set button again. Not great but it work.

Yes Mike that is what we do as a work around- also while in cruise you can flick, get +5mph target, and as the speed rises push the set button again when it hits the speed you want - with cruise setting in comfort in MMI of course otherwise it just takes off :biggrin3:

Sorry for the confusion - I thought we were talking about ACC. ACC is 5mph increments.
