Number Plate Suggestions

Post by ShaneyB » Mon Oct 21, 2019 5:30 pm

Hi all,
Since I picked up my PE it hasn't had a front number plate mount (still awaiting delivery) so no plate either. I've got to say I love the look of it without the plate. With black rings I think it will look smashing. The previous owner had a stick-on/wrap plate in between the grill and passenger side headlight washer which I didn't see but the dealer said it actually looked good.

The car goes in to have the black rings, badges, window tints done and wheels refurbed tomorrow and I'm stuck with what to do with the plate.

Question is, if I didn't mount it on the grill where could I put it that would look good and be legal(ish).?

Cheers as always.
Shane

Hi Shane,

I don't think you have many options really. I did a quick 'photoshop' to see what it would look like between grill and headlight washer and it would have to be a really small 'illegal' plate. I suppose you could stick a full size plate over the headlight washer and then carefully cut around where the washer cover is, but even so I didn't think it looked that great 'on the side'.

I think they look fine where they should be and to me it all evens up. With it on the side just doesn't look right to my eye, looks like a Scooby  ..... but each to their own of course....

Cheers,
Lig.

I'm the same Lig TBH. It reminds me of an Alpha which I don't like as I'm a tad OCD so being non-symmetrical would drive me nuts. I just like the grill bare and not Bare Grills :-)

Yes it defo looks better without but I don't think any legal (or even semi legal)alternative is better than the original. I'd either risk it with no plate or keep it legal. I used to alternate between the 2; if I took it off for a show I'd leave it like that for a few weeks then put it back on for a while. Currently, in my lobsided Alfa I have it in my windscreen. The official position needs screw holes in the bumper which I don't like the thought of.
