New Rs6 owner
Hey
Been over a week now with my RS6, done the exhaust mod (thanks Mike Fish). But i'm still not quite enjoying it as much as i thought i would, is it the winter tyres that came on the car?! It goes well in a straight line yes but doesn't give me the confidence through bends like i believe it should.
They are Dunlop Winter Sport 4D and all have around 4/5mm tread, the car doesn't seem to give me great feedback (like my old M car), is this normal with the RS6 or should i switch to a new set of Dunlop Sport Maxx GT?

Welcome to the fold......It's a big old lump and will hang on better than you think it will. Can't comment on winter tyres, but SP Sport Maxx, I had on my B5 RS4 back in the day, when they were first released (still got the free umbrella) - Michelins are the Boots to go for. In terms of feedback - if you are looking to drive it at it's limit, then you will end up banned or dead!! in normal day to day driving with some "fun" it provides more than enough feedback - though I'm not into the hardcore tracking it, driving like I stole it mode. (Like the username btw!)
I guess you could try different suspension set up etc etc, to to get it how you want it - they rest of the crew will be able to articulate far better than me on that.

Put it on Mich PS4S and make sure the tracking is spot on.
IMHO the car is very sensitive to both

Re: New Rs6 owner
Yes I doubt those winter tyres are gonna do much other than give you some grip in less than perfect weather conditions.
I lowered mine when it was a few weeks old then had the alignment set up and this made a huge difference for me. Not sure if it was just the alignment alone or a combination of lowering and alignment that made the difference.

PS, not normally a fan of the Dunlops but they are better than the factory Pirellis. However, I'd go for Michelins.

Re: New Rs6 owner
Been a few days with the new Michelins on and it's improved the grip significantly. I'm still not that happy with the RS6 though and beginning to regret buying it, it's a nice daily but if you want to take it out for a blast it just doesn't put a smile on my face.
Gearbox feels slow, body roll is stupid (although i'm beginning to think this is my fault by going for the air option) and iv got bored of the sound already from the resonator deletes.
Iv spoken to MRC about stage 1 and along with a Milltek un-res and they have told me this 100% opens the car up, is this worth doing or should i jump straight to stage 2 option they have with downpipes although iv always disliked the smell catless downpipes give
Any help is appreciated

The car from the factory is not great, you pretty much have to stage 2 imo. I have a stage 2 730bhp and a millie, its a totally different animal.

Hi Weapon_rs6,
I am sorry to hear this...
From what you are saying, it could be that the car just isn't for you. OR could be the Air sus?? I love putting mine in Dynamic (with DRC) as it changes the drive significantly. But its too harsh to have it in this mode all the time. Mine is standard and I am still in awe of the power and performance and would no way want to mod it BUT all horses for courses...
Yes you could throw more money at it and as danny (and I am sure others would agree), this will 'change' it... BUT then if you are still not happy it will most likely be money wasted.
If you need the space, then IMHO these are hard to beat BUT they are no 911!!
I would think hard about investing in modifying as it might just be more cost effective in selling as it is and going for something else??!!
Might be worth going for a drive in one with DRC to see if that would satisfy you? Then maybe look to PX for one with DRC before investing in a stage mod.
I hope you get sorted one way or another.
Cheers,
Lig.

Re: New Rs6 owner
Lig may be right, out of interest what car did you come from? You said M car? M5?

Re: New Rs6 owner
Cheers guys, i sold my Stg 2 F10 M5 with winter coming and thought the ideal replacement would be an RS6, went to local Audi approved used cars and test drove a few, and took one away.
It was pissing it down during the test drive and to be fair, it went fairly well for the conditions, something i wasn't used to so just took it. I'm sure they have a few with DRC so i might head down on the weekend for another test drive, failing that i don't mind spending some money on it to be honest, i can't be selling up again just way too much hassle.

Strangely I also went from a F10 M5 700 HP - the grip is unreal in the RS6 but compared to the F10 the gearbox is <beep>!
I also found the general feel of the M5 just felt better made, can't quite put my finger on it but an example is that on a -5 winters morning I never even thought the M5 would struggle to start and even though I have had no mechanical issues with the RS6 I am sort of waiting for it to brake down!
Have to had a spin in the new F90?

Hi Weapon_rs6,
Can the exhaust mod be reversed? If so then don't Audi offer a 30 day exchange plan?? IF you find one and like the DRC better???
I am sure they would swap the tyres over!!
Cheers,
Lig.
