Hitting rev limiter in auto?

Post by Byla100 » Sun Oct 28, 2018 10:23 pm

Hi everyone

Picked up my RS6 PE a few weeks ago now and absolutely loving it so far!! Just have a couple of quick questions if anyone could help with I'd really appreciate;

- I usually drive in manual with the paddles but put it in S mode today and when I floored it in 2nd gear it seemed to hit the rev limiter a little before it shifted up, is this normal?
- also traction control flashes every not and then when shifting from 2nd to 3rd although only seemed to happen after it hit the rev limiter? Guessing it's because hitting the limiter makes the car lose momentum then when it does shift into 3rd it's suddenly putting all the power to the wheels.

Anyway, sorry for the ramble but any experience would be appreciated :thumbs:

Slightly concerning if no one else has experienced this...

Hope not! Bought directly from Audi, currently 11 months old so wouldn't have thought Audi would sell it if it was?

Or is that very naive?

I wouldn’t put it past them!!!!!!

Sounds like it will still have warranty so I’d advise getting into the dealer and let them diagnose any issue.

I've spoken to them and going to take it in for them to diagnose

Got me concerned it could be remapped now - if it is, do you know what my 'position' would be in terms of Audi? I.e. I don't want a previously remapped car!

Sorry I didn’t mean to alarm you and it probably may not be I was just asking the question. Could be a number of factors just wait to hear from garage first.

No worries, I appreciate the response - I actually asked the dealer who confirmed it hasn't been remapped so all a little strange... Will wait to see what they say

Well, cars been into Audi, definitely not remapped and they updated gearbox software but problem still persists! Going back in again tomorrow but I'd welcome anyone's ideas on what it could possibly be!

Just the gear box software, no ECU stock map re installed? also look at the cars history see if it's had any work carried out on warranty.
