AUDI CONNECT AND GREYED OUT 'AUDI SMARTPHONE INTERFACE'

Hi guys
Two problems I cant seem to find the solutions for
1.No audi connect option on MMI ( Howevet giving me a code to fill in from the website)
2. When I press 'Setup MMI' I scroll down and find a greyed out option for 'Audi smartphone interface' anyone know how to enable it

Does your car have the Connect option fitted? Do you have a Sim card slot on the dash between the 2 SD cards?

I'm in the UK and have just bought a 2017 A6 Avant and have exactly the same issue. I have the Tech pack option including Audi Connect although there isn't a sim card in the card yet.

I connect my iPhone 7 (with latest software) with a lightening cable into the USB port on the Audi and nothing happens. I've tried 2 other cables, re-started by iPhone, re-staretd the MMI, restored everything to factory settings and still nothing. Just can't get Apple Car Play to activate nor can I change the greyed out Smartphone Interface in the MMI setup menu.

No I don't however we have a Q7 and that does but no audi smartphone interface‍♂️

I'm pretty sure Smartphone interface is 'software' and was available from MY17 on, in order for it to work it has to have been specced (£250 on the C7), if it hasn't been specced then I'm pretty sure you can pay your Audi dealer to activate it. We did it on our nursery hack MK7 Golf. Paid the dealer £300 and they activated it for us on the pre-built unregistered stock car we bought.
