Lead time RS6 Avant

Hi All,

I'm new to the site and I've been away from the Audi brand for a number of years but now soon to be back behind the wheel of a sensible family estate. Yes, I'm rather excited.

Does anyone have recent knowledge of the time from ordering to taking delivery of an RS6? I'm told by dealership that their best guess at the moment is 6 months which I'm sort of hoping is a over estimate!! Any information based on your own experiences would be welcomed.

Ordered mine October 21st '16, built last week of March '17, picking it up, subject to confirmation, this Saturday.

6 months, 8 days.

Specification might be a factor, of course - one never really knows what, if any, optional components are the limiting factor. Heard tell that there was a shortage of parking cameras at one point (when I was investigating a C63 purchase a while back).

I ordered mine on 26th January it was delivered 27th March just under 9 weeks.

Sorry to hear of the delay! Surely you have waited long enough.

When placing the order the dealership guesstimated Sept delivery. However they reckon they can provide a better estimated delivery in two weeks time... what changes after two weeks? Do they sit on the order for two weeks to allow your 14 day cool off period to elapse?

Dealer estimated to me last week around 4 months... although not sure if an exclusive paint option will extend that time.

Quick update. I ordered my RS6 on the 20th April and today I followed up asking for an order number so I can track the car on "Your Audi". The response I got was:

"Because your car is an RS6 and has exclusive paint it will take some time before it is loaded on to the system"

Nearly two weeks to be "loaded onto the system".... is this normal or am I being stalled for some reason??

I think that "loaded onto the system" means "scheduled". They won't schedule the build until they have determined when they will next run that colour in the paint Shop. That's the killer with exclusive paint. Choose a colour that is obscure enough and you might wait many months for your car

They should be able to provide the order number though. The order will just be sat with no info, if it has been placed with the factory.

I vaguely recall the ordering process for exclusive paint is a little different and may involve Audi UK.

The reality is, for exclusive options, paint especially, there's no way of predicting the delivery time. Could be 2 months, could be 12 months.

Thanks for your replies. 2 to 12 months is quite a window!! I'm mentally prepared to wait 4 or 5 months but a 12 month wait could be a problem.
