MRC are arguably the most knowledgable, trusted and effective audi specialist...
I have used them several times in the past.
Excellent rep.
JBs are also very good, do absolutely loads of VW, Seat, and Audi work. (Their S1 is mental!)
Plus they are 5 mins from me.. and the owner was the first owner of my car. So JBS is the choice for me. :-)
Well abt company most know in tuning world, so I don't think that they lie about what happens after ecu flashed, all safety features just vanishes

I'll definitely ask when I take it in.. but the rev limit is still in place.
I guess if you know what you are doing they can all be re-instated...

MRC leave all standard ECU protection measures in place as do most top tuners. The car will go into EGT protection mode if it gets too hot (Pulls out boost, retards timing and richens AFR to cool everything back down) and go into limp mode should there be a mismatch between the writen boost and ignition tables and the inbuilt protection measures (over boost)

Any tuner with a good reputation will keep the standard safety measures in place. It's not worth their reputation melting engines by switching them off for an extra 10hp.

E14STO, James at JBS will have left them on for sure.

European tuners are a lot more expensive, in Germany they need to meet TUV approval and that costs. Some offer their tuning with warranties and again that costs a lot of money.

Leo - did yours have downpipes etc?
What torque did it make - 1000nm plus?
Did MRC do any trickery with the gearbox?

Yes, the full Millltek TBE, torque was over 1000nm and the gearbox software was standard.

The only difference I noticed was it's virtually impossible to launch, the extra torque is too much to hold it on the brake like you would do in a standard car. With a tuned car, it's best to rev to about 2000 and let off the brake as you pass through it. Rather than the standard car 2800 hold and release.

Have to say a tuned RS6 is an absolute brute in 1st and 2nd gear where the back end kicks out on you and dependent on conditions, needed full lock to correct to get it back in a straight line. Standard car certainly more planted in 1st, possibly 2nd.

Hardly, ABT used to be good & well regarded but many others caught up & better products/offerings are available from other sources such as MRC, Litchfield, DMS & JBS (i'm sure others exist).

Also unless i've misread, the ABT offering is a plug & play tuning box rather than a Custom tune for the specific vehicle? I know which i'd prefer as for half the price of the ABT system i could get a better quality tune bespoke to my car, with a full Insurance backed Warranty & an endless list of satisfied customers.

Each to their own of course & it's great to have a choice.

All good :-)
I don't launch mine and won't unless I ever take it down the runway...
I'm assuming in anything other than perfect conditions traction needs to be in sport mode. In the GTR, which was aggressive, it literally was like stamping on the brakes when the turbos kicked in.

The car already feels much more responsive/ fluid on the road in sport mode with the stage 1...

Yes abt offer second control unit for the engine upgrade. And as I am familiar they say that stage 1 is 666 hp and 830 nm, stage 2 : 700 hp and 880 nm plus exhaust without downpipes ( downpipes stock) so as I understand every car has same unit with same numbers.

Therein lies the problem though, 'every car has the same unit' so how can this be better than a Custom tune specific to individual vehicles as each & every C7 RS6 like any other make/model will be slightly different. An off the self tune, especially at the crazy money ABT charge is not something i'd want applied to a premium vehicle.

Off the shelf tunes - should be the cheapest option out there imho. And typically are.

Well people who choose abt they have stock cars, in case they want 700 hp they can change catback that's all, otherwise you will end in 666 hp range maybe little bit more or similar

But the custom tunes available can offer 700bhp without any mechanical upgrades. With downpipes & exhaust, nearer 750bhp is fairly easily available.

Well usually if you want 700 you need change downpipes and exhaust for sure and it's better to have less restrictions on all pipes, I am talking about downpipes as it can cause back pressure
