Lowering and tyres

Hi, needing new tyres and was thinking p zero's 275/30/21 in combination with mtm lowering springs front -40 mm and rear -45 mm, anyone done that ? Like to hear your opinion if you had any of those modifications.

Plenty of us running OEM size tyres, lowered and spacers with no issues.

Well, think it will look better because the tyre will be pulled more to the inside and will be a little less high and square on the wheel. And so far my experience is good with the pirelli's so if it doesn't influence the ride much think is the better option. Anyway, that's why I ask if anyone done it.

I get why you want to go a little narrower as I get a little rub at the front with 40mm springs. But won't they be slightly lower profile? And if you have the standard 21s then doesn't that increase the risk of buckling them?
Pirellis are the worst of the OEM tyres but if you are going a non standard size anyway then why wouldn't you put a decent tyre on?

It would be slightly lower profile and the risk of buckling them is always there, has more to do how and where you drive, I do mostly highway so doesn't matter too much. Dunlop and Continental also offer 275/30/21 with R01 spec, you think one of those would be a better option ?

Edit not sure if Michelin are available in that size though.

Dunno, it's Audi spec so wouldn't hurt. Anyway, they are all R01. Michelins are not available in that size as far as I can find. I read your thread, nice car you have I like the mods, did you try the spacers after lowering? Couln't find it so fast too much text. I have 20 mm each side, you know if they fit perhaps after lowering ?

My front tyres rub without spacers so would be silly to add any. I tried but there was no way it would drive like that. I have 15mm spacers on the rear.

I have 20mm on the front Mike, only rubs occassionally on full lock, im going to look at this large mushroom like screw in the wheel arch as you suggested before and see how that goes.

I am considering swapping to 20mm springs at the front to make it more level with the rear and add some spacers.

Currently have an error light for the suspension that won't go away. Says it is the right hand front level sensor but as it won't reset I'm guessing it has come unplugged or gone completely kapput is the wire has been broken. Just need time to get it up in the air and start pulling trim off to get to the sensor to check. I had nothing for nearly a year lowered then Chris asked me about an error last week and then it started happening!

Deffo seems to be level sensor....although my VAG man says fault was wiring related?

Always happens when fully loaded and Strangley when roads and car is filthy???....could just be coincidence?

Hi Mike, can you remove the mushroom screw with no affect then? That's good, as i had to raise my front slightly to get 15mm spacers on the front. I'm going to go down to around 5mm so i can get the front down again which i guess was about -60mm with no rubbing at all.

With 12mm spacers on the back mine was actually taking off tyre noticeably within a week of use; it was touching under load all the time. However, because the rear has camber adjusability, i have solved that by simply increasing camber.
