The one thing I have noticed with the Akra is the tone inside is quite different to outside the car. Inside quite smooth, high pitch. Noticeably louder but not intrusive at all - I have actually now disconnected the valves so always open so I can have the noise without pops and bangs when just cruising. Outside much more aggressive, deaper tone and quite loud :)

Yep - I hadn't realised how noisy it was from the outside, til I heard my wife drive off in it last week.

Are you saying that disconnecting the valves means you never have the pops and bangs, even in sport, or just that it lets you have the noise all of the time, even in "comfort"? Sorry if I'm being obtuse...!

Disconnecting the valves means the exhaust is noisier all of the time (can when 'open' they still close some of the time..
The pops and bags are controlled by the gearbox being in sport or manual mode irrespective of valve position.
Disconnecting the valves will throw a few errors though. It won't show up on the dash but will on a computer plugged in. Milltek do a pair of cancelling units that stop the errors and also keep the plugs dirt free. I have these on mine. Cylinder deactivation is not supposed to work with the valves disconnected but mine still worked fine before I fitted the error cancelling units.

So you get the full noise volume all of the time but can leave it in auto , comfort etc or have it in Manual / non dynamic and not get the pops.

Cylinder deactivation still happens as you can hear it cut in

Mike,

Can I ask where you got the canceling units from please? Just had a quick browse on the Milltek site but couldn't see them.

Found the place I got mine from, it was Venom not Viper.
http://www.venommotorsport.com/product/exhausts/EX1531/#

Although it says for Audi S3 8v the part number is right and it works.

See above ^^^
So are we saying the back boxes are the same, the central resonator is the same, and the only difference is the secondary cats? In which case, to replicate the sport exhaust with a standard exhaust all you need to do is cut out secondary cats and replace with straight pipe?
I think main thing is black boxes that sport exhaust has, non sport has silver if I am right.

I was thinking about ABT exhaust, sounds not bad, called ABT muffler system http://www.abt-configurator.com/en/Audi ... /40TFSI560

How much do they charge for the abt exhaust? Doesn't sound very different to mine. Don't know of anyone in the uk with that exhaust. I'm not a fan of their stuff generally.

How about this for £360:

Yes that was my £360 exhaust mod. Better than an 4.5keur abt if you ask me.

I know there is a classifieds section for this, but hey ho..

If anyone fancies a 100 mile old Audi sports exhaust then please feel free to DM me with an offer. Came off my RS6 and was swapped for a Milltek before the Mrs could say 'it sounds louder, what have you done''
