First 1000 miles with PE

Sorry Dolphins.

No not me. I am Stroud area.SimonR wrote:Wasn't you I passed near Cheltenham earlier today was it? I was in a Sepang Blue.Markp wrote:Was gob smacked at this yesterday. Leaving London in heavy traffic during rush hour, M3 to Southamptom at 85 leptons where possible, and back to Glos. Seems to be getting more and more efficient. Not a mpg counter but satisfying given the car's capabilities.
PS but I was listening to Radio 4 that day, rather than Planet Rock...

Be careful. Deleting the DRC could worsen roll even with a 70mm drop unless springs are much firmer and that combination will bugger the ride whatever the vendor says.robf wrote:I'm pretty much sold on coilovers. You can get the ultra low H&Rs for £2,000, which i thought was pretty good. I've been promised excellent ride comfort and of course a 70mm drop is going to make quite a difference to bodyroll!
The loss of DRC is no big deal to me as it is way too stiff in Dynamic. The question is, will the dash throw a wobbly once DRC is disconnected?
I love the six's mix of talents but there are inevitable compromises. Although at this level of the market I am guessing most owners have other cars in their garage for days when speed and handling are the only requirement. But you can't get a dog in a 911 or on a bike

Nice! Extra happy to hear another Clyde-side resident is a happy owner of this beast. Got any pix we can drool over? [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]MrBadger wrote:Just passed the 1000 mile mark on the commute home tonight. Roughly one month old- all driving done commuting in traffic. My thoughts:
Loving it. Real smiles per mile when I hit the throttle when traffic clears. Hard to keep to 70!
Got protection film done by Robert at Incredible Detail Glasgow. He did a great job, nice to deal with and on the trip home I got hit by a rock from a car in the next lane bounced of the offside front wing and onto the windscreen. Chipped the film but it really limited the damage. Scottish roads are covered in crap and I am much happier to have the front protected otherwise it would be a chip a day at least.

No major cornering done but unsurprisingly feels soft compared to the RS4 (gathering dust under the office).
Some admiring glances (including the Police-I think).
Sport mode has the exhaust f*rting and popping on overrun and even when simply modulating speed in traffic which seems to annoy and amuse other road users in equal measure.
The advanced parking camera stuff is a real help.
I'm using the adaptive cruise control a lot in roadworks and start stop traffic. Need to remember its on or I will end up bashing the car in front. Do the brake lights come on when its braking the car- as a lot of drivers behind suddenly seem to get too close?
Interior works well though not sure I am making full use of the connect system. With Mike Fish's help I got connected to google maps eventually.
19.6 mpg if you care.
Re: First 1000 miles with PE
I have two routes to work, usually just outside the peak of traffic.
1. On phone following traffic with occasional bursts of speed in gaps. A34, M4, Reading town centre past Madjeski
2. Cross country Whitchurch/Kingsclere/Aldermaston/Reading. All wicked back roads.
1 = 19mpg average
2 = 12mpg and ticking brakes
My long term is showing 18-19mpg after 3,500 miles.
Best I have seen is a relaxed long motorway drive which gave me 24mpg.
The E63AMG before gave me about 20.1mpg with the 5.5LV8 BiTurbo 575bhp motor.

I am surprised. A relaxed motorway drive at 85 ish gives me close to 30 on long journeys - even double checked brim to brim as I thought the computer was being overly optimistic. Perhaps I have the 400 bhp versionBit_evl wrote:I have two routes to work, usually just outside the peak of traffic.

First 1000 miles with PE
Car did well on a long trip from Wales on the weekend. A great mile muncher that got some attention from a couple of RS3s and a Ferarri (575 I think)

28! Nice job. Perhaps we need to start a competition, followed by a 'Who can get the lowest' figure

I am up for the lowest but we will need two categories. Public roads and track. 11mpg on the way home tonight.
Re: First 1000 miles with PE
I normally have it on the lap timer screen to see oil temp but when I have been flicking through I have seen it on 8 and 9 mpg.

From memory I think the best MPG I got was about 28 on a good run! 38 is remarkable.
