Re: Good news Bad news
Thanks Eddie. Though after over 30 years without real problems I find myself as an old dad with a car and red wine habit an SQ5 and RS4 on the driveway and its the family that worry me. In the past if I kerbed a wheel I couldn't sleep for 2 weeks. Now my view is exactly that its just metal (I keep telling myself).
Re tracker thats interesting as I asked the dealer today if they could do and they suggested a Cobra system. You really reckon I should be doing after collection?

The thieves know exactly where the stealers fit them. As soon as they steal a car they look in the usual places and rip them out if they are there.
Re: Good news Bad news
Seriously Mr B. Trust me when I say this. Audi have to fit the cobra in 2 specified places. Mine was fitted in the rear place which I'd say is common knowledge to all the scrotes. It took them seconds to rip out my rear sections and tracker therefore rendering it useless. If I'd known at the time it was fitted in only 2 places I wouldn't have let Audi fit it. As stupid as this sounds I used to work for TOAD Plc ( I left in 2004) and I still have a few contacts I should really have fitted the tracker myself at one of my friends places and got it approved by them. Hindsight hey. But like you I'm old now and sometimes it convenient to let someone else do the job. Like I said DONT let Audi do it. Ps you won't go wrong with the Clifford. It's defo what I'd be fitting if/when/or if the Mrs let's me get another 6.MrBadger wrote:Thanks Eddie. Eddie just looking at the Clifford site now. Looks like an old unit i fitted to my 1.6 GTi in 89! I trust the electronics are more modern. Whatever I do I will take your advice and do it after I get it from the dealer.

Good man. I'm sure if you take the installer one of those bottles of red wines you adore (oh I like my red too it must be the old thing) and tell them to stick it in a real hard and unusual place they'll be very happy to do so.

Re: Good news Bad news
Mike do you think a wheel to brake pedal lock will fit given the dashboard layout?MikeFish wrote:The thieves know exactly where the stealers fit them. As soon as they steal a car they look in the usual places and rip them out if they are there.

Re: Good news Bad news
The steering wheel lifts to its highest position when you turn the ignition off and open the door which would make it harder to fit. I imagine there just be a way to disable this function, I seem to recall the option in the MMI.
Re: Good news Bad news
Mike thats too clever for its own good. There is a Bunker one which is flexible on Amazon may be worth a try.
