If the insurance company have accepted it then they can't fella, that's very true. You still have the rozzers to deal with and Audi Warranty.

Listen guys, I'm not against modding. What I love in life is certain things, i.e. that is certain - by adding stuff on you are into the world of uncertain. And we all (soon for me) have lovely and very expensive cars.

Will someone thin less off me because i didn't put on spacers? NO, would someone think more of me because I have a monster exhaust? NO

Whilst in the warranty period these cars need to stay stock, for the biro in the pocket brigade. Afterwards when everything is yours and your insurance companies liability then crack on

I am torn on this. I am absolutely with Boff on how I will go about keeping my car stock but I love hearing about what Mike and others are doing. If no one changed anything I would have nothing to envy/quite like/not understand/dislike.

What troubles me more at the moment is I did not order the B & Q audio (joke) or the carbon (but I wanted the footbwaving boot opening thingy and the money).

Please don't say that though I had read that some love the boot thingy and others don't. IIRC there was a thread which basically suggested if you wave it (your foot) nothing happens but if you poke it forward like a kick in the chanks it works well. I really like carbon but it is v expensive and I am now too late.

Oh don't start me on the whole carbon retrofit issue!
I can be done relatively cheap if you don't mind the plastic bits with a carbon skin. New genuine bits cost a fortune.

I think I have read that and will search again if the plain black so upsets me when the car arrives.

Spacers fitted.

Post by FaisalJ » Sun Apr 17, 2016 9:53 am

C7 looks great with spacers!

As someone with 10, 12, 15, 20, and 25mm spacers in use (between 2 different cars, and 4 sets of wheels) and as a mechanical engineer by training, my view is clearly that they are perfectly safe! As long as they are hubcentric, you've got longer bolts (so there's the same depth of thread securing the wheel to the hub) and you torque them up correctly. It's no different to just having lower offset wheels.

There are race cars out there fitted with spacers, and no issues.

And of course all modifications should be declared to insurance.

Happy spacing! Image

As someone else pointed out, Porsche offer spacers as an option! It is not a safety issue whatsover. In fact, for the old 993 Carrera S (so the Turbo's wide body), they simply whacked on big spacers on the rear rather than producing a new wheel.

If it is declared on your insurance then it is clearly not an insurance issue.
