Audi oil service

Post by kavbhamra » Thu Jan 14, 2016 3:35 pm

do any of you take your own oil and genuine Audi oil filter when you have your oil service on the RS6?. I can get oil cheap through work so I was going to get the recommended brand and supply the oil.

Maybe have a chat to the garage / dealer first but yes people do go down this route.

If they charge you to dispose of the old oil which they will just ask them why they didn't pour into the container your new oil came in and dispose of it yourself. Then watch them winge as they adjust the bill in your favour.

lol ok I'll do that :-). I can get the oil cheap enough so I don't understand why its 307 quid to change oil lol. Most probably the hourly rate to watch oil drain!

Maybe I'm stupid, these are 70k cars and we winge about the price of oil?

The price of the car is irrelevant. It doesn't give the dealers the right to rob.

Do all Audi dealers allow you to supply your own?

I've been flatly refused by BMW as they say they 'can't' warranty the work if the parts are not supplied by them. TBH this was for pads/discs & i've not asked about oil/filters, however the saving for an oil service was minimal but for brakes it was significant, so i opted to do the Indy route & saved a fortune.

its not the point of a 70k car its still my money why should I be ripped off, I could do the oil change myself but want to maintain the history what I refuse to do is pay 347 quid for a oil change. Working in the area I work in I can get the oil cheap, happy to pay the labour but not be bent over on the oil ohhhherrrrrrrrrrrr.

If your happy to pay that then that's your cool its your money buddy.

Paul, Audi will not fit pads / discs or any other part that they haven't supplied themselves, same as BMW.
Some delears will let you supply your own oil though. I've heard on here that a delaer refused but for the main part they don't seem to mind. They even give me back the rest of the bottle that they don't use.

To be fair, I can be a little cheeky here, mines on the Audi service plan which with my style of driving is saving me just fortunes. The 6 will definitely be on the plan, that way I'll never ponder the price of oil.

Sort of related, but what intervals to people leave between oil changes? In my B7 I did a fuller service every 10k and oil change every 5k, but I wondered if more modern engines etc. etc. makes any difference
