Re: Advice pls for new old git
Just worth throwing in with all the discussion about towing etc, that you can't have a tow bar with the dynamic suspension. So dont go ordering dynamic suspension and then looking to have an aftermarket towbar. May be teaching my granny how to suck eggs here, but just in case its been overlooked.

thank you. yes going for the standard suspension with factory fit towbar.
Re: Advice pls for new old git
The tow bar prep as standard means that the rear diffuser has already got the removable panel exposing the area upon where the tow bar can be installed so you don't have to cut it out as per Wildbore. Its only when you opt for carbon pack that the removal panel is not present. You can still have advance key if you retro fit a tow bar you just have it without the keyless boot opener option.

Re: Advice pls for new old git
I didn't know that, I assumed (silly me) that the cut-out was only on cars with a tow bar. Well, that makes retro-fitting a bar easier. Still not as easy as ticking a box, but definitely easier than taking a dremel to the diffuser.Eddie555 wrote:The tow bar prep as standard means that the rear diffuser has already got the removable panel exposing the area upon where the tow bar can be installed
Re: Advice pls for new old git
Unless you have carbon, then there's no prep.

Had a 535d years ago, got around 400bhp out of it fantastic car. Agree though a tad boring when standard.superlightr wrote:not hijacking at all - you are contributing which is very welcome.Paulm wrote:Sorry for hijacking your postsuperlightr wrote:Appreciate the help and advice. Mate unless you are towing, you MUST get the Dynamic pack / DRC - the one you see in these posts was lovely apart from the suspension. and was exactly what you have ordered, no dynamic pack but with Air (infact you could save some money and buy the Audi City demonstrator if you do want Air) - big drama on the suspension for me tho.

Hi Guys
Hi Vantage - this does deserve more detail, so let me try to explain the best I can.
Currently I drive a 15 plate RS4 B8 Ltd edition with pretty much everything on it, including DRC. Which I love, but it is small. Currently sat at 10k miles.
That's the background.
To Convince my wife, I need her to authorise payment by demonstrating capability - and I don't buy expensive things unless I really like them.
So Audi City loaned me an RS6 for the weekend, and I paid for a family trip down to our next house destination, somewhere around HighCliff, Bournemouth, etc etc.
I picked the car up on a Friday night and dropped it back on the Monday night. The RS6 was a beautiful Sepang car in pretty much the perfect external spec for me, so it was love at first sight. The car did not have DRC and had Air.
why All this background? well it is a journey that is very familiar to us, and I tested all the Use Cases.
So Friday night London to Bournemouth on the A3/A31/M3/New Forest - I was able to enjoy some late night spirited driving
Saturday, out and about in the Rain with the family looking at houses
Sunday, again out and about the local area New Forest roads are amazing, lovely pub lunch, then Motorway home - trying the relaxed modes.
Monday took it to work
I absolutely hated the Air suspension, as did my wife - and frankly in most modes. So Spirited driving, the car wallowed into and out of the roundabouts, very wallowy - how can I describe it - on turn out of the road about the car pitched passenger nose dropped, rear felt very weighty (all that power soon got over all of the though)
Motor way driving, long a road - the car was easily unsettled, you'd find yourself approaching the lines easily - felt like my Range Rover Sport 06 felt, wallow - in the range rover though it was just something to get used to, and i could handle it eventually in that car, but a RS product?
Around town it was obviously fine.
AND then I got back in my B8, instantly felt more connected, more chuckable, more fun - and I am really surprised about that, and I can only put it down to the suspension just being that bad.
The Range Rover Comment came from my wife, the connection side of things from her again, and it made her feel sick. And these were all unprompted comments from my wife, basically when I was thinking the exact same.
I have of course ordered an RS6 P/E but it will have the dynamic pack on it (BTW Ceramics are definitely not needed)
