COD, Does yours spoil along drive????

Post by kieranp1 » Fri Oct 30, 2015 10:32 pm

As above title really, I'm 4700 miles in now and have just done two long journeys (500 miles each). With cruise set at about 75-80 I can feel the COD kick in and out quite aggressively (constantly) and quite frankly it's starting to p*** me right off. Is this normal and does anybody else feel it too?????

Thanks

Kieran

Can feel it yes, but not enough to spoil anything.

I find that sometimes it's seamless but often there is a noticeable jolt. The jolt reminds me that the car is doing its utmost to save fuel whilst letting me drive around in a V8 for fun when I want it. My best MPG so far is 30, but achieving that was a bit of a bore so I typically get 26 on a motorway run. I guess that, without COD, that might be 22 or lower, so I can live with the jolt.

I hate it as well, as it only works up till about 75-80 mph tops. I frankly do not see the point of it because as soon as you just touch the throttle it is back to all 8 cylinders again. This makes it impossible to get a smooth drive even if you want to just puddle along in the inside lane.

I wish you could deactivate it the same way you can with the start/stop function.

I don't notice it at all in mine. Only time I know it's working is when I have the DIS on the economy display and I can see it coming on and off.

Doesnt it only kick in/off at 3.5k rpm? Can u just take it easier on the motorway? :)

It's driven by throttle demand.

I can't say I really notice except when I happen to press the gas just as it was transitioning anyway.

I find I notice it but wouldn't call it annoying. Occasionally the transition is more like a miss but in the main it's pretty good.

It always kick in when in Cruise control. Sitting at under just over 2k revs. I told Audi but fell on deaf ears

Varies from model to model, but from what I have read for RS6, light and moderate throttle loads, once warm, and only third gear and above.

It absolutely does my head in. Feckin annoying. Like tonight, driving home through empty city roads between 50 and 70km/h, the bloody COD feels like the engine is constantly misfiring or chasing gears. And it stuffs up throttle response, too. Seriously Audi, why mess about with fundamental drivetrain qualities of a 560hp car for a little bit of fuel saving? If I wanted a parsimonious car, I would have bought a diesel. Aargh :bash:

This is a deal breaker for me. Car's going back.

Mine does not seem to do it - at least not noticeably so - when engine and box set to dynamic. Or gear-lever pulled back to S. Have you tried that on yours? May help your blood pressure and worth trying :)

It is very annoying! I've had mine back and no faults found!
