What does this build week mean?

Hi All,

I've been told by my dealer that my car is build week 12, I've never really taken time to understand what it means and if differs from manufacturer to manufacture. Can someone enlighten me please and does that mean I could potentially get my car for 1st May?

I have not understood it either, going on the gist of it is that it will be made on the 12th week of the year which is the last week in march if im correct, doodle will be along im sure as he knows the system inside out.

Kind of what I thought Trups but in the same breath the dealer told me " it's build week 12 so being built next week then 4 weeks to us" very young inexperienced sales guy who is nice to chat to but he keeps confusing me on lots of different aspects of buying this car

Yeah....build week means diddly squat! Build week 51 means car arrives mid March in my case.

Google will answer, but the numeric weeks are a standard and the same across the board. Week 12 is next week. Work on 6-8 weeks for delivery after that.

There are issues at the ports at the moment with over capacity, so it's more of a lotto than normal.

Build week is an industry standard across all automotive companies and correlates directly to the week number that is printed in most diaries. It is currently Week 11 of 2015 so build week 12 is next week. As to when it arrives with your dealer, of course, that's in the lap of the Gods...
