Squeaky Steel Brakes
Squeaky Steel Brakes
Hi all
I've put just over 8k km (5k miles) on my C7, I have been getting squeaky brakes every now and then. Took it back to Audi service and they somehow oiled/lubed it, it would then be fine for couple days and squeaky noise would then come back. Problem is, I don't get it all the time. Just wondering if anyone here is experiencing this as well?
Thanks
Phil

Re: Squeaky Steel Brakes
this is a common problem with the RS which is usually cased by town and stop start driving which builds up a deposit on the disk the remedy is find a quite peace of road and brake hard with out causing the abs to kick in form 70-10 mph and 6-8 time this will remove any build up on the disks which causes the squeak at low speeds
hope this helps

Re: Squeaky Steel Brakes
Squealing brakes was an issue on early RS4 cars too (I think they're the same wave disc set up), and Audi replaced mine under warranty and changed them for a revised design with a counter balance on the calliper
If yours is an early RS6, it may have the same (now obsolete) parts, which it's worth approaching your dealer about. Free discs and callipers is always worth a few mins effort with a phone call and booking it in
Either way, it shouldn't squeak, so throw it back at Audi to sort

Got the call from the Porsche Dealer this week saying it'd not made the initial allocation, but did I want to hang my deposit in there incase anyone drops outnuwanda wrote:Thanks Graeme.

It's pretty unlikely, but I'll wait and see and leave my deposit in just in case
Bizarrely, if a customer had previously bought a 918, then they can automatically jump the queue. Same for GT3 RS
So as it looks like the GT4 is going to fetch a premium straight away, it's likely that I'll end up further down the queue as 918 customers (45 in the UK apparently) buy a car at the chance of making a quick & easy 20k (probably 50 on a GT3 RS)
UK allocation of GT4's in circa 180 cars

But there must be anti-reseller obligations/penalties of the dealer and customer
It is not in Porsche GB's interest for these not to be sold to genuine buyers

Re: Squeaky Steel Brakes
I thought that. Pretty sure Porsche, McLaren & Ferrari have it contracted that buyers can't sell their slots for a premium or offload their brand new registered car at a premium. Could be wrong though. Only managed this once & it was on the E60 M5, sold my slot back to the dealer for £5k as they had an 'enthusiastic' punter who had to have the 'then' must have M.HYFR wrote:But there must be anti-reseller obligations/penalties of the dealer and customer

Re: Squeaky Steel Brakes
A contractual agreement between a dealer and a customer is wooly, but do exist
I have an Evoque on order for my sister at Lookers Battersea and had to sign this
It is the OEM - Dealer contract where this will be enforced and penalised
Or the OEM will identify the car being advertised and simply won't supply it and reallocate.
However this is just for a New car. I.e put a couple thousand miles on it, it's now a Used car...if it can still command a premium then it's fair game

Re: Squeaky Steel Brakes
There is with the 991 GT3RS. It's six months or 5k miles from what I understand, but not with GT4'sHYFR wrote:But there must be anti-reseller obligations/penalties of the dealer and customer

If 991 GT3's are anything to go by, then the price only really picked up around 6-9months after (post engine replacement) cars were delivered
If you had the cash lying around (as I suspect many £700k 918 customers do) why would you not buy a £65k fun car that you can sell hardly used after six months for a possibly >£85k figure
£105k retail 991 GT3's are advertising up at around £180 now. nuts
Porsche are very good at 'hype marketing' - The recent under supply (and arguably, under pricing) of GT3's and now GT4's is great advertising and hype for them, and I've been called 3 times with offers of 991 GTS and Cayman GTS cars instead by the dealer, which I'm sure is a much more profitable car for them and unsurprisingly, not in short supply. Plus it brings peoples attention to the brand, which again, is only a good thing
How many people have gone into dealers looking for the latest GT car only to be steered towards a well specced 911 GTS or 4S ?

Re: Squeaky Steel Brakes
I'm not sure supply of 911 GTS is that mega either, though agreed they are definitely available. It's a nice car, but nothing like a GT3 or a GT4.

Re: Squeaky Steel Brakes
Personally, I think the GTS cars look really nice. However, the main thing that drew me towards a GT4 was (and I hate to admit it as I know it's an enthusiasts car) the chance of 12-24 months potentially depreciation free motoringdoodlebug wrote:I'm not sure supply of 911 GTS is that mega either, though agreed they are definitely available. The same can't be said for a GTS unfortunately, although just look at them ;

Re: Squeaky Steel Brakes
Yep, still a good looking thing. It'll not ship a shed load and with 991 going turbo could still be a wise purchase as last of the NA 911s.
