Going from the RS6 - GTR would i regret it?
Re: Going from the RS6 - GTR would i regret it?
If you can live without the space of the RS6 go for it. I recently drove an R8 v8 and GTR on track and would have the GTR over the R8 in a heartbeat, well until I went in the Mclaren MP4-12C

Re: Going from the RS6 - GTR would i regret it?
Having recently driven a GTR the 2 cars are chalk and cheese, you`ll be surprised by the size of the GTR but the cabin is a lovely place to be.Theres no comparison in acceleration and handling but then the gtr isnt an estate, it really does depend on what you want from your next car.
The rs6 isnt as quick but servicing and consumables unless you go to an indy like litchfields will make your eyes water at NHPCs. Lovely cars if you arent a badge snob and easily modded for good gains at very little expense but you lose the practicality so asking whether you`d regret it is only answered by why youre changing and what you want from the new car.

Re: Going from the RS6 - GTR would i regret it?
The owner of the soon to be 1500bhp car referred to above had a V8 R8 and found it really boring. On a two day trip to spa he did about 15 laps in total because the car did nothing for him and he was bored!bilko1 wrote:If you can live without the space of the RS6 go for it. The chap mentioned above with the green RS and 1200 Bhp Datsun also has a Macca. That is a real weapon. Looks boring but a fine car!

Re: Going from the RS6 - GTR would i regret it?
I think it's all been said. I like my GT-R but I don't really use it as much as I would like to. Mainly due to less need to travel. I bought it to do more track days, but only managed 3 or 4 last year .
In hindsight, I wish I had kept the RS6 and maybe bought a toy for track days.
This year I'm going to try and fix my lack of fulfilment with the GT-R and try to enjoy it more. If I don't, it's up for sale.

Re: Going from the RS6 - GTR would i regret it?
Just do it as virtually impossible to regret owning one:)
Nothing stock this side of £100k+ (with a roof & doors) could get close in terms of performance to the GT-R. As already said, if you buy used then opt for the Indy route for servicing & maintenance & you should be fine with the running costs, however factor in it's not a light car & thus to do what it does so well it does use tyres & pads at a rapid rate, however no worse than an RS6 but the parts do cost more. Budget for £1500 a year in tyres & £500 for pads along with £500-£700 for servicing & you're about on the money. Insurance is reasonable & the car can do mid-high 20's mpg on a sensible run, but press the loud peddle & you're into low single figures.
As for a mapped RS6 being quicker than a 997TT, you can laugh that away I'm afraid in the real world it would never happen. Perhaps on a runway between 150-200mph but approach a corner & watch the Porker vanish.
To the original point though, go get one & check out

Here we go again
GTR fastest car in the world, behind the TTRS
Yes real world.
Me in a C6, some Dick in a 997T cabrio. The A406 in London, yes a real road...and yes, I blew him away, so much so he pulled up beside me afterwards shaking his head in shock!
Maybe I dreamt it

Complete field marshal concordance.
There is in the following clip a 200hp difference in favour of the sixer but still gets trounced, the gtr is leagues ahead in terms of outright speed and thats in a straight line, throw in some twisties and the six really wouldnt know which way a gtr went and throw enough money at a gtr to get in over 700hp such as the alpha 8 and there isnt a car this side of the veyron that could keep up.
It however, isnt an estate and is a nissan, but the engineering is phenomenal.

Slightly closer in terms of bhp but an even greater gap in terms of result

Re: Going from the RS6 - GTR would i regret it?
Well I had a test drive today in a brand new GTR it was amazing you really cannot compare between the RS6, the sales man said do what you want with it but don’t forget it’s your driving licence, so I took that on board and foooooking floored it the speed it gets up to is amazing and the speed you can take corners at was stupid, you get the feeling you’re never going to make that corner but it just grips so well, it’s a beautiful to look at its just sexual I would say, i want one so much I’m thinking of getting rid of the wife, but only joking, I will have to wait till august till I get one, I am going to seek out a 2010 version as that’s about the limit of the budget I know they are about 485 at the back wheels and 506+ overall, god I loved it,

Here we go where again? I have never said the GT-R is the fastest car in the world & certainly didn't say the TTRS is 2nd. Why was the guy driving the Porsche a dick?D_K wrote:Here we go again

How cool, racing around the North Circular
I'll state again from fact, a C6 RS6 in a drag race with over 250bhp more than a 997TT could take a straight line win in gear at certain speeds, however real world being not in a straight line the C6 would have no chance. That's like pitting a 997TT against a Vectra VXR in terms of power difference. The RS6 is a very capable & quick cruiser (although hardly lightning fast stock given the C7 S6 is as quick with 160bhp less) & when you modify the C6 RS6 like any other car that's modified, of course it will be even quicker.

Re: Going from the RS6 - GTR would i regret it?
Bobby, hope you find one & a MY10 is a good move as although the newer cars have more stock power & a few minor upgrades, for a couple of £k you can achieve the same with a much lower entry point. Mine was a MY10 & after spending a few quid with SVM & RB Motorsport, i had near as damn it a 650r & unless you're a very brave man that's more than enough to scare most people:)rob8457 wrote:Well I had a test drive today in a brand new GTR it was amazing you really cannot compare between the RS6, the sales man said do what you want with it but don’t forget it’s your driving licence, so I took that on board and foooooking floored it the speed it gets up to is amazing and the speed you can take corners at was stupid, you get the feeling you’re never going to make that corner but it just grips so well, it’s a beautiful to look at its just sexual I would say, i want one so much I’m thinking of getting rid of the wife, but only joking, I will have to wait till august till I get one, I am going to seek out a 2010 version as that’s about the limit of the budget I know they are about 485 at the back wheels and 506+ overall, god I loved it,

When you're in a car that stock can hit 62 in 2.8 secs (you said sou were test driving a brand new one) then look around at what you'd be troubled by.
