Maybe on a C6, but not so on a C7.W8PMC wrote:Just do it as virtually impossible to regret owning one:)
Nothing stock this side of £100k+ (with a roof & doors) could get close in terms of performance to the GT-R. As already said, if you buy used then opt for the Indy route for servicing & maintenance & you should be fine with the running costs, however factor in it's not a light car & thus to do what it does so well it does use tyres & pads at a rapid rate, however no worse than an RS6 but the parts do cost more. Budget for £1500 a year in tyres & £500 for pads along with £500-£700 for servicing & you're about on the money. Insurance is reasonable & the car can do mid-high 20's mpg on a sensible run, but press the loud peddle & you're into low single figures.
As for a mapped RS6 being quicker than a 997TT, you can laugh that away I'm afraid in the real world it would never happen. Perhaps on a runway between 150-200mph but approach a corner & watch the Porker vanish.
To the original point though, go get one & check out

Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

only up to a point.njm rs6 wrote:njm rs6 wrote:To be fair they are 2 very differant cars, Power wise you wont be dissapointed with the gtr, the launch is brutal off the line and the surge of power is ridiculus plus if you get bored your never gonna be short of upgrades! search alpha 12 kit on youtube that gtr is epicly quick and not overly expensive considering
But practicality wise and all round bang for buck theres not much that comes close to the big 6 unless you get a roof rack you wont be able to do 0-60 in under 5 with a dishwasher in tow!!!
100k for a car that out accelerates a car worth 1.2 million seems pretty cheap to me
The veryron wasn't designed to be quick off the line but rather to sit at 200mph without flinching and then the occasional short dash up to 250.
A cheap bike will out accelerate the the 100k car and the 1.2 million one

Sad, ain't it? You'd need a Hennessey Venom to beat a stock 'Busa to 200MPH.adsgreen wrote:only up to a point.njm rs6 wrote:njm rs6 wrote:To be fair they are 2 very differant cars, Power wise you wont be dissapointed with the gtr, the launch is brutal off the line and the surge of power is ridiculus plus if you get bored your never gonna be short of upgrades! search alpha 12 kit on youtube that gtr is epicly quick and not overly expensive considering

Maybe what on a C6 but not so on a C7, cost of parts?

So a 100 grand return on 60k invest in less than 3years... nah I'll stick with a cash ISA.
