Is the GTR expensive to run and why ?
Is the GTR expensive to run and why ?
Greetings fellow RS246 keepers,
It´s been a long time since I posted in your community -and FON PhilT -
I heard and read here and there that "the GTR is an expensive toy to run".
Could owners here confirm and detail if/why that's true with specifics ?
And also some granularity analysis -if available- between early models vs. latest versions.
Best regards,
Eric

Re: Is the GTR expensive to run and why ?
The why is easy - it's a 100k plus car that happens to be sold for a massive price cut.

Re: Is the GTR expensive to run and why ?
My data from a year running a MY10 GTR:
Cost/Day
Fuel - £10
Insurance - £5
Tyres - £4
Servicing - £3
Tuning - £3
Detailing - £2
Other - £2
Total ~£30/day
Cost/Mile
Fuel - £0.35
Insurance - £0.20
Tyres - £0.15
Servicing - £0.10
Tuning - £0.10
Detailing - £0.10
Other - £0.10
Total ~£1.10/mile
Not sure how that compares to other cars. Of course I have not included depreciation.

Re: Is the GTR expensive to run and why ?
11,000 a year before depreciation at 10k miles per annum?
Depreciation has to be at least another 4k year so 15k?

Thank you for your quick reply.
Two immediate questions (forgive some of it but I am not a native english-speaker)
1. Massive price cut: you imply that new cars are sold with a massive discount ?
But if so, what about second-hand market (which I intend to look into) ?
2. I looked into the PDF you attached.
What is the the difference between the first chart total value, say G1: GBP 55, and the second chart total value, say G1: GBP 144.82 ?
Which is the actual value to take into account as a potential buyer ?
Best regards,
Eric

Thanks for your data.
Some of it seems to be mileage-based (Fuel, Tyres and somehow Servicing) while some of it seems fixed per year (Insurance and Tuning).
Not sure what Detailing and Other includes/means.
What is the yearly mileage you based your data on ?
Cheers,
Eric

It's not a price cut as such.Taipan wrote:Hello Adsgreen, adsgreen wrote:The why is easy - it's a 100k plus car that happens to be sold for a massive price cut.

When the gtr was released it was circa 60k which appears to be a bargin (and it is really).
The point is Nissan dont make any money out of it and it's purely advertising and brand awareness.
If it was th only car Nissan made then it'd be realistically 100k.
The point is dont look at the gtr and think its going to have running costs of a 60k car.
Think of it as an exotic supercar of 100k plus then you won't be surprised at the running costs.
Re: Is the GTR expensive to run and why ?
The bottom line - 144.Taipan wrote:Hello Adsgreen, adsgreen wrote:The why is easy - it's a 100k plus car that happens to be sold for a massive price cut.

First is parts costs, the next including labour, finally including vat.
Re: Is the GTR expensive to run and why ?
- Detailing is paying someone to do a deep clean, paint correction and protection.Taipan wrote:Some of it seems to be mileage-based (Fuel, Tyres and somehow Servicing) while some of it seems fixed per year (Insurance and Tuning).

- Other includes things like track days etc...
~11,000 miles.Taipan wrote:What is the yearly mileage you based your data on ?
