After selling the RS4 earlier in the year and running a track car (well 2 track cars) over the summer, I've decided to try and blend the 2 and bought a 987 Cayman S.

It's a lovely thing to drive on the road, very composed, and can be enjoyed at sensible speeds. It's also a lot of fun on track, RWD is for winners! Brakes weren't up to scratch so they have had upgraded discs, pads, fluid and lines. I've also had a Carnewal exhaust fitted with improves the already awesome howl. I highly recommend Bedford for anyone wanting to push the limits of a new car. It has big run-off areas and due to the track length (4 miles) it tends not to have much traffic.

Silverstone GP is up next on the 5th of Nov. Hoping the brake upgrades will allow me more than one hot lap before the pedal goes long.

Have you thought about the GT3 Master Brake Cylinder upgrade?

Although my Boxster Spyder does not do many miles, was thinking of doing this as a wee upgrade.

Like the Spyder wheels as well :)

Fitted some leather pole positions, very happy with the outcome.

A little update:

The winter upgrade program reached its climax yesterday after a trip to DMS Automotive for a remap on the rolling road.

Spec now:

Stainless steel brake lines
Race fluid
High carbon discs
DS2500 + DS1.11 pads
GT3 RS short shift kit
Carnewal GT exhaust
RSS harness bar
Schroth harness
Recaro Pole Positions
IPD Plenum + GT3 throttle body
De-snork + BMC air filter
DMS remap

The car is now running a healthy 373bhp up from 320 stock. Looking forward to the next Bedford outing to compare data.

I went down to Southampton where the owner Rob did the remap. I highly recommend them.

Ahh, didn't know if you'd used the Midlands depot cause they have a Pork specialist attached to them.

Gaymanz.

Seriously though. The Cayman makes a LOT of sense. MR arrangement, 6cyl boxer, light enough, actually pretty cheap (at the moment), sounds great and tunable with some great track-based mods available. It makes way more sense than a 911.

This has some Audi content - the car was driven on track by a 63 year old lady. See didn't hang around.
