Are you buying new or used. Gen 2 will almost certainly be new as not long been available.

Gen 1 = n/a
Gen 2 = turbo and improved nav etc

Gen 2 much quicker but doesn't have the same noise. Personally I like the turbo but it's not for everyone.

If you're interested go and take a look.

Had the gen 1 991 4s and now got the 4s gen 2 turbo version - much much quicker, turn in and steering much improved on the latter. Only done 1000 miles but enjoyable and some how less go karty feeling, I think it might be the rims/tyres aren't the huge ones though. When fully run in I can't wait to open the taps

911 C4s cab - summer is fun :D

RS6 C7 - Panther Black - dodgy steering
911 GT3 - awesome but ate tyres
RS4 b8 - Black on Black with Black windows
911 Targa 4s 991 - Black with Grey Leather

Ive not done them side by side but through the twisties other than straights I'd say the 991 will mince the rs however in a straight line launch from say traffic lights the rs will pulverise the 991 - until the roundabout

All done and said I can't drive 2 cars at once

I'd agree with the above.

Its 150 horses down and a good chunk of torque down.

Dynamically there's no comparison, 991 is far quicker and flatter in the corners.

If you want the performance, though this would pulverise all C7s, then you need go Turbo S, though that's a different price bracket.

The 911 is about the driving , one is a sports car and the other is a 2 ton estate with some poke and which would I save if the garage was on fire... tough question. The C4S is a great car and the comments below echo this.991.1 is the last of the N/A cars so you do have to work the engine but when it gets up the rev range it just takes off.Sports exhauts is a must just for the sound alone.
But a lot of people who are new to the 911 do say it took them some time get the car myself include but when you do every trip is a journey and yes people do let you out of side roads ........
The 991.1 sat nav is awful but the didn't win le mans by developing the sat nav.

The turbo S will pull your face off ......... totally bonkers amount of power but be carefull the C4S could lead to a GT3 .......
RS6 Grey and Loud. :-)

B8 RS4 Daytona gone :-(

To add to this, I actually enjoyed the C2S too. Doesn't quite have the same looks/stance, but it's every bit as good, if not better to drive.

From my limited experience, albeit a 2 day test drove of the new Turbo S, the difference in the way the 991 goes about it business vs. the high powered Executive Audi's/BMW's is night & day. When you turn the car into a degree of corner, you know & can feel exactly where the front & rear of the car are & that's exactly where you want. I couldn't under any circumstance unsettle the 991 & it was a joy to drive.

As said above, in a drag race i'm sure the German lumps wouldn't be overly embarrassed & against the lower powered 991's would no doubt get a jump off the line, but in giving up 150bhp & a similar level of torque this would be somewhat obvious, however the minute you throw in some curves the Porsche will vanish even being so far down on power. Saying that, i think the Gen 2 S variants 0-62 & 100 times are on paper the same as the C7 RS6, but i'd guess North of 100 the RS6 would start to pull a reasonable lead.

The overall difference in the driving experience/involvement however is vastly different, but then you'd expect that to be the case given the absolute difference in the 2 cars dynamics.

Not strictly relevant to this thread, but what are your thoughts on the spec of this one?:

It doesn't have the 18 way seats, but other than that GTS' seem fairly well specced anyway. I could live with the duck tail.

Go take a look! GTS spec is good but not great, there's still piles of options.

Assume you're aware that part Alcantata is standard.

I may well do that - it's had 2 owners though and was recently sold but has re-appeared. Could be nothing, just a failed finance app....will keep looing for a higher spec. Aware of the alcantara trim level - looks ok.

That's a hell of a lot for an old-shape two-owner?
