Macan Turbo arrived

Post by pDkALO » Tue Dec 01, 2015 2:14 pm

C6 RS6 just gone to new home, B7 RS4 went last year, now have this on the drive...

No, it's not a V10, nor even a V8, but it still makes a nice noise and is brilliant - it's a keeper

All done through Tonbridge - they supplied the 987 in 2009 and have been excellent; wouldn't go anywhere else

Factory order took about 13 months for the turbo. Initially we couldn't make our minds up about which to go for, so we ordered a petrol S alongside as well that would have taken about 15 months, but we dropped that after finally being able to try the 3.6. I was spun a line by another dealer about being able to get one quicker but what they were saying didn't stack up so I walked away and stuck with Tonbridge

Aye, fantastic cars. I love it though I'm not allowed to drive it. Often.

Great looking car... I'm also looking for one but can't decide to just go for the V6D or the petrol Turbo..
Too much power is barely enough.

Swerve the diesel. GTS is sweet spot if you're ordering new, and you might as well as used prices are still very strong. S/Turbo both turbo.

The petrol S is a good choice, but depending what you want on the car, when you start ticking the options boxes, the 'Turbo' soon starts to look like good value because it comes with lots of extra kit as standard, and the extra oomph makes it just about perfect (for me anyway)

Not sure I agree re the oil burner though doodle - have you tried one? I was all for the turbo and then tried the D on track and I was amazed how good it was. No it's not as quick in a straight line but not much different everywhere else, and it does genuinely very good economy - it was so good that I was on the verge of changing the order until my wife put her foot down and played the 'no tractor fuel in this house' card

GTS is a tricky one and down to personal taste - at the end of the day it's a very slightly lowered S with a couple of extra ponies, the sports exhaust (which can be added anyway) and some nice red stitching on the seats. I like the look of it a lot and was very tempted, but once a few options get added to it, I just feel you lose the GTS character and may as well splash a bit more and get the turbo

But then TBH they're all damn good - even my Dad's tempted with one now!

Must stop this thread soon - this is supposed to be an Audi forum after all...

Yes, tried the diesel. Even the wife said it felt a tad underpowered. Then we drove the petrol S around PEC and that was that.

Agreed on the cost, but the Turbo with spec was still 10 grand more, so the S was the compromise. The GTS is a good bet for those that want a spec'd up S, it'll have a better residual. Agree, styling not for everyone, the Alcantara would have had to gone (child!), then it loses some GTSness.

New 991TTS has just launched, dealer practically ready to push the button for me. I need to ponder this one....
