Looking at the discounts already available on a F-Type he's probably correct. Porsche are very good at limiting supply to keep values strong, Jaguar seem to do the complete opposite, as do most manufacturers to be fair.
I did consider the Jag but heard the same thing re the residuals, going to see the Macan on the weekend and will decide then.

Any thoughts on the need for ceramics?

Well, it didn't take me long to get pretty chronic fade hammering around PEC, however the brakes are plenty manly enough for day to day stopping. But, there always room for ceramics!

The Macan is no lightweight and the B8 RS4 brakes don't seem to last that long, £5.5k didn't seem too bad tbh.

I will check the cost of the replacement disks and pads too.

As I think has pretty much been said, need and want aren't necessarily the same. For us this car is a keeper, so if I'd had the cash I'd have been tempted with PCCB, but only really for lifespan, and even then I doubt they'd work out much cheaper. For road use I found the standard setup more than adequate. I've not found it wanting on track at PES either, so either doodlebug has bigger kahunas or I carry more corner speed... :beerchug:

At £5.5k though, they're great value compared to other manufacturers - for that you get a proper ceramic setup all round, whereas others just give you fronts and leave you with stock iron rotors at the back, and often want more money

I was also a wee bit tempted, but I'm not blown away by the look of the final product, and the dealership experience that I've had when making some fairly serious enquiries has left me stone cold, so didn't pursue it any further. Maybe it'll be very good, but I won't be kicking myself

Not for a while yet! - it's my wife's car and she much prefers the 987 "because it's more curvy", so has no interest in the 981. Personally I think it's a real step change in the cabin, but once on the move I couldn't found anything in it, so in the meantime I'm happy to put the cash into more unnecessary options on the Macan - for those 2 days of hot summer we get in Blighty, I will feel smug on my ventilated seats :D

No, it's not a V10, nor even a V8, but it still makes a nice noise and is brilliant - it's a keeper
Very nice David; I've been waiting to see since I picked up mine...
Did you pick it up that afternoon as planned?

Certainly did Marcus! - despite banged up leg and pouring rain it was a great drive home :biggrin3:
