I know, I started looking at 993s 5 years ago. You could nab a decent one for 25k... now CAT Ds are 20-25k!!!
No matter where you go, there you are.

The 993 ship has definately sailed, prices are going silly. Great for investment purposes but the bubble has got to burst soon. I was considering the car Ozzyz has linked last year for c.37k (needed paintwork to make it perfect and was not my preffered car but look at the price it sold for now). Dealers are snapping up private cars as quick as they come on.

A 997 C2S is a great car, good package with fantastic handling - just make sure you get one with a PSE (Porsche Sports Exhaust) to get the best vocal value. Early cars has stated to fall to around early £20s due to no longer being eligible for Porsche warranty and the underlying issues with bore scoring (have a google look) which results in big bills if you are unucky enough to suffer.

996, I would personally give them a miss unless it was a Turbo or GT3 model. The 996 interiors are also starting to look very dated. A 996 C4S might be worth a look if you're after a wide body Porka that still looks 'right'

If I can help with any other Porka stuff fire away
Mortgages, Insurance, Financial Matters.....need help....ask away
RS4.....another :-)
Previous - all sorts

996 to 997 was a huge change in terms of looks. The 997 is a lovely looking car, whereas the 996 is a bit more challenging in most forms
Loads of good 997 C2S and C4S cars out there at reasonable money. Don't discount C4S cars though, as they still drive really nice.
Tiptronic is, in my opinion, a pile of pants and those nasty rockers on the wheel are sh1te to use

There used to be a guy that came to a load of local meets with a 996 C2 which had a GT3 badge and what looked like a halfords spoiler on it, looked blimmin awful, but he liked it and that's what counts I guess
There some horrendous ones out there though

Anything 993 wide body or anything with a GT3 badge is stuuuupid cash now. Wonder how long that bubble will last, but can't see them ever going back to 2013 pricing

I've got a Porka on order, but my chances are slim as allocations are small and waiting lists are large (and I missed the boat only by a couple of days)

Aye that's the kiddy. It'll be a fantastic bit of kit. You'll get one, they aren't going to be limited like GT3.

Mrs has a Macan on order. Drove one at PEC last week, it's properly funny hooning an SUV around. It's a very nice place to be. Got the brakes grumbling, it was really good fun. The kick plate/skid pan is good too.

Unfortunately, Porsche Swindon told me they were only expecting 180ish in the UK total, which means they're expecting to get 5-6 cars
I deliberated for a couple of days, and by the time my £5k deposit was down, they already had 15
Unofficially, he told me they prioritised existing customers that had placed LOI's 12+ months previously, and then by location (I have that in my favour), and I expect spec as they make more money on high spec cars (my car's quite poverty spec)
I'll wait and hope, but I'm not holding my breath

You may have to wait, but I think they'll produce to demand, as much as Porsche do of course.
