F the Triangle
F the Triangle
Wow, its been quite a day ... surreal even.
Its the 1st of November, yet today I was in North Wales in a T <beep> enjoying the heat of the sun in a cloudless blue sky
I got up at 7am and hit the EVO Triangle. As I left my house, I was greeted with thick fog on the M54, but soon hit sunshine as I entered the amazing roads of Wales
So, normal run ... M54, A5 then come off the A5 and head towards Knockin. Eventually hit the A4396 / A4391 which is EPIC roads.
So its early, roads a wet from the fog and dew overnight, temps at not bad, around 9deg so Im making progress but short shifting the R with the sublime ZF8 Quickshift box.
The noise is epic.
The power is effortless. Supercharged instant torque means short shifting makes for extremely rapid pace!
First thing I notice is how quickly you build speed and quickly need to scrub it ... THANK GOODNESS I went for a car with CCB's ... seen a few threads on here for pro's con's .. I am very much in the PRO camp. Yes Steels will stop as well, but for how long ... the F-TYPE is not a light car, let alone a B8 or C7 ... on these twisty roads, pushing on ... you want big brakes, every time.
The CCB's are epic !
So, get to Bala then take the B4501 up towards the Triangle .... first stop though, breakfast !! at the Rhugg Estate Farm Shop.
Find this in the car park
anyone here ?
mmmmmmmmmmmmm
So, fuelled up ... hit the triangle
Roads are dying out nicely now, temps are high teens ... sun is warm, I'm just amazed by the luck .... the place is quiet
So, start to push the car some more ... rev it out, 6/7k rpm
FOOOOOOOOK me its PROPER quick...
Easy peasy R8 V10 quick, tbh, traction pending, prob quick due to more Torque
The NOISE ... we all know the noise from these things is RIDONKULOUS but honestly, its spine tingling, you get the full plethora of sounds, V8 rumble, V8 banshee, pops and bangs off throttle, Explosions on upshift barp, just awesome ...
The steering is very direct, car is really pointy, the feel and feedback is fantastic, no artificial electric stuff here ...
Suspension is very firm, but very very stiff ... car does not twist at all ...
Gearbox is epic, but anyone who has driven a ZF8 knows this.
Brakes a phenomonal, just get better and better with heat. Very good pedal feel and very progressive. Completely different to the stupidly over servo'd R8 CCB's
The traction is also very good, actually didn't one step out on me when I didn't want it to / expect it to ... and I wasn't hanging about
but when you wind it out and keep your foot in ... WOWOWOWOW its proper proper fast, scary !
The car is not light, I remember a Chris Harris quote in his video of it ... he said it feels about its weight, not more, less . I would agree. Its about the same as a B7 RS 4 Avant I think, so Im very very glad I went for the CCBs
the roads here are incredible
what a day
what a car
completely blew me away
Its a car that has so much personality, and just makes you so happy and have a great fun time ... and it is PROPER quick !
I am over the moon with it.
Can see this one being with me for a long long time...

Awesome review, you couldn't have picked a better day at this time of the year. Very lucky. Car looks amazing in that colour. Will have to pop over and do the run with you again.
