Went to have a play in some JLR products (new RRS and f-type

Post by 535dboy » Wed Aug 28, 2013 8:43 pm

I managed to get a rare day off so went off to play and let the Mrs go to work

First off the new RRS 5.0 s/charged Autobiography

Personally I love the look of it and the inside is super luxurious.

Although it feels big on the inside it does not feel like a big car drive and my god is it quick !

Sounds better on the outside than the inside which is a shame. Didn't get to really chuck it around but it felt planted.

Very smooth 8 speed box

1000 times better than the previous one IMHO

Then off to the Jag garage to drive the new F type with the same V8 s/charged engine

Wow could you hear it in this car !! roof down as weather was glorious.

Dare I say it, it was almost too loud at full chat but did sound nice, although I probably prefer the sound of my Audi and it didn't blip the throttle half as much on the down shifts

Very nice, smooth drive with the same gearbox as RRS. Felt like it could be fun but it is and feels bigger than our Boxster so maybe not quite as much fun on the real twisties.

Both garages have offered extended test drives (overnighters) on both cars so I will take them up on this

the demo

JLR For The Win.

The F-Type is gorgeous, I wonder if any more could be squeezed out of the V6, by all accounts, it's more rounded than the V8.
How shocking was the ride?

I see

I thought the ride was ok but then I'm not known to have fine riding cars!

The only thing wrong with the F type is the price, other than that it's stunning.
I like the new Sport as well. I was in Land Rover the other week and there are 100's ready to be shipped out.
previous- Pug 205 gti, 306 gti, 309 gti Goodwood.
Audi S3, S4 V8 avant.
Porsche Macan Turbo.
Gone but NEVER forgotten - C5 RS6 Misano red avant.

Now - Empty garage

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there!

Yup. Even though a bit long in the tooth it's hard to discount the AM V8 where good examples can be had for the same money.

Four went past me the other way going to work earlier, roofs down, trade plates, a Range with trade plates was leading the pack, was an orgasm for the ears as the JLR workers were having a right hoon.

This guy has sold a few £100k spec cars which yes puts them right in to AM money but the AMs are so old tech on the tech side.
