AMG experience

Did the AMG experience this weekend at Mercedes World in Brooklands, Byfleet.
Got the short straw and ended up in a E63 AMG Estate (with carbon brakes - they were amazing) -but still very nice car, would have preferred the C63 saloon as a more direct comparison to the RS.
Overall, I was pants on the wet circle, obviously not used to oversteering/sliding cars!
the noise of the 6.3 engine is awesome - makes the RS seem quiet. Also a brand new E class does make the RS seem quite dated inside too.
I would seriously consider a C63 AMG as top of my list if I was looking to replace my RS (what a noise!) - especially so when you take into account the overall level of service you get at Mercedes World - its enough to sway you away from the hassle I'm used to at audi dealers, although Camberley are restoring my faith big time.

HI Dunc,
Would agree, the good merc's sound awesome.
Having sold my AMG last year, just get ready for massive bills if it goes wrong. Must get warranty, regardless of cost.
My 7 speed auto box went bye bye. It cost 7000 for the box and 1800 of hydraulic pack. On top of that was labour.
Had to sell the car as had no cash left.

Hi Dunc I did AMG day too last year, what package did you do?
I did the half day. The c63 was and is amazing, totally opened my eyes, did you drive it around the track there too (if so what did you think?), also did you do the high speed breaking and slarlem exercise?
Also drove the CLS600 (?) and the AMG ML on there off road section.
I agree, the skid pan was very hard.

Think about how dangerous that would be in snow and ice - I'd rather have my RS4 any time.

A friend of mine has a C63. You'll need deeper pockets than with an RS4. And you better buy shares in your preferred (rear) tyre manufacturer

Apart from the obvious tyres what are the other major costs?

@Sonny
I only did the one hour (was a gift) - was also quite busy, so did quite a few (i.e too many) laps of the 'handling circuit', 'wet circle' and the wet straight. Auto box was quite annoying on the Merc - could plant the throttle and it wouldnt go anywhere.
Instructor said best time is week day, off peak...
I would have loved to have taken my RS on the handling circuit.

I did the half day on a weekday, to be fair I wish I sacked the off road part for more track time, the instructor was good, he commented "Have you done this before" I was like yes, I like to have a dabble lol
Agree the tiptronic can be a bit much esp the 7 gears, kept forgetting what gear was in!
He made the comment, "so you going to chop your RS4 in for one then" I commented "two hopes"....That wiped the smile off his face.

Getting one of these in May using the factory collection to replace the RS. CAN'T WAIT!
Dealer had an AMG weekend recently and got to drive the SLS on some local good country roads, so much fun but prefer the C63.

Well I had the rs4 b7 avant for just short of 3 years nice car tryied the new rs4 but not for me perhaps the next one will be better, so I went for the C63 amg with PPP 2013 car I love, if you can drive it's really good fun in the wet I would say just as good as a rs 4 just not off the line due to rear wheel drive, I nearly lost the rs 4 a few time but just put my foot down a little to help get it back into shape.
I do hope the next rs4 is better just to tam!! I just like a drives car it is not but the rs6 that is nice but too much money and massive, so will see in 2 years time what car I will buy maybe a Audi.
