Having now left the Audi bubble I once lived it, I can now appreciate the M5 and would love to own one, in Blue, basically the spec you have Paul

How about to sell it to me instead of handing it back, get me past the piss and slippers phase !

Act your age man.

M5s have and will always be for early 30 somethings who can't afford the real thing or promoted sales guys who still fondly remember their first "beemer" rep mobile as being the "dogs bollocks" from when they "bagged debbie from accounts" in the 80s.

Cheers DK. I'll have a word with BMW later in the year & see if they'll offer up a favourable price.

The colleague of mine who had a V6S F-Type soft top, received his F-Pace First Edition last week. A stunning car.

Do you actually read what you've typed before you press submit?? :jump_clap:

'M5's have & will always be for early 30 somethings who can't afford the real thing' ? What's the real thing? If they've got an M5 then surely they have the real thing?

You'll also find the demographic is about 10+ years older from my observations. I know 5 other owners & all North of 35 with 3 plus me being well over 40.

You have however been the source of some amusement for a few days so thank you.

Wow what a surprise- a shitfight between people who like BMW's and Audis.....must be an overspill of the Pistonhead usual dick waving contests that are a tedious daily feature
I've just come over to an Audi RS after 18 years with BMW. They both are great Marques with their own merits. I've owned 2 M cars, an Alpina and the last one was a tuned M135i. They were all amazing cars and exciting in their own right. Some (like the Z4M) were a proper handful and the sense of ending up in a hedge backwards at times made for some exciting drives!
To be totally unbiased I think modern Audis have their design spot on and look fantastic. The C7 in any form looks brilliant and I think BMW is lacking there. The handling and feedback in BMW's is outstanding (they finally have sorted the brakes out which was a huge minus point in the M cars). One thing I'm not missing from BMW is the constant fight for traction and my RS spanks off the line in pouring rain while everyone else slithers about. Awesome and very suited to the UK climate!
If the M5 is so crap why does Evo Magazine (pretty much the petrolheads bible) rate it so highly? It's great in some areas and not so great in others. Same as for Audi RS's. And every other manufacturer out there. Matter of choice/taste etc. I nearly got into an M5 before my RS but needed to scratch an old itch. So far I'm not disappointed.
And if it's bad driving we're talking about then 'standard' Audi drivers can say nothing! That's Mr Arrogant Exec in his TDI express am talking about here, bullying everyone out of the way and driving like an arse.A particular favourite target of mine I have to admit

Very confusing read... obviously some background that we all dont know about.

either way each to there own, personally i like Audi's the RS is my first, i've never owned a BMW but i have driven a few (drifted a few old ones but that doesnt really count as a comparison point)
The nicest one i drove was my mates M6 but thats pretty old to compare against a C7 though.

I had an e36 m3 Evo with eibach pro street s suspension and it was great!

In purple...

I'm tempted with another, either e92 or even the new four door f80 m3... Just need to be able to finance it :(

And also... Ross's purple b8!

I think the Audi is a nicer place to be in but the Bmw is a nicer thing to drive. But that's only based on a few audis but mainly the c6 and a few BMWs mainly an m3 e36 and 330D.

I agree on the nicer place to be part... much prefer the overall interior of an RS vs an M

I agree totally on the quality-first time I sat in a C6 RS6 you could smell the build quality and I felt like I Was sitting 'in' it if you know what I mean! Plus it was a tuned one so it felt like I was sat inside something with 'NASA' written in the sides....I was instantly hooked. Compared to my M135i which was on a 62 plate the RS6 (4 years older) had it licked quality wise (and power wise big time!)

I sold my f10 m5 to get the RS^ as I needed an estate for the dog. I had done a few mods 21" 3 piece alloys 3D carbon design front apron rear diffuser and boot spoiler. H&R springs, tuner motorsport rear axle back exhaust system with dry carbon trips, Twin AFE air boxes and a starge one map to 701 bhp. Was a great car don't get why some people have to hate!

Because they can & usually because they've never driven one. Also it's an Audi Forum awash with RS enthusiasts, but some of them (only a few fortunately) don't appreciate comparable cars. In the main just banter though & can be laughed off. MCB is by far the best M5 colour even though I'm biased.

Have you done anything to your RS?
