RS5 gone, hello M4!
RS5 gone, hello M4!
Sadly waved goodbye to my RS5 a few days ago and took delivery of a brand new M4 on the 29th December, what a car!
Such a different beast to the RS5 but welcomed as I've done all the RS cars now. Thanks for all the banter over the years, I'm sure I will be back in an Audi at some point but for now it's M4 all the way

Why m4 over m3? I was considering an m3 after the c6 rs6. I though the m3 looked a little better and having had a 996 for 7 years before the rs6, I wanted four doors and a boot

Re: RS5 gone, hello M4!
Cheers!
Don't really like the look of the M3, there's plenty of room in the back of the M4 for my 5 year old and I don't need the extra 2 doors.
There are some amazing deals out there at the moment, I got over £10k off list on a brand new car!
Performance is superb and I can't even take it over 5k rpm at the moment

It's a nice motor but if you don't need the extra doors I wouldn't bother mate, there was one next to mine in the showroom and there is no extra space in the back, just easier access!
Deals on the M3 are low in the ground also as they are produced in lower numbers.
Performance on these is immense, the pull in 4th gear from 30mph is unbelievable, love the torque

Always deals on BMWs .... Shelling peas
Re: RS5 gone, hello M4!
I thought M3 looked better. Rear arches are what done it for me on M3 over M4.
Nice motors though.

just chased a 64 plate M4 around the twistys in the 6. it made a good noise but the car was all over the place we were both pushing hard but he was really fighting the car, looks very unstable from behind.
thumbs up from him as I hammered past him on a long straight though

Surely he wasn't trying? The m3 should kill it on the twists surely?kent_andy wrote:just chased a 64 plate M4 around the twistys in the 6. it made a good noise but the car was all over the place we were both pushing hard but he was really fighting the car, looks very unstable from behind.

With our time with the M3 running out, I went for one final drive. I’d finally found a driver setting combination I could get on with: steering, suspension and engine in Sport Plus, gearbox set to medium ferocity and the electronic aids set to the less intrusive MDM mode. With those electronic aids not aggressively cutting in anymore, I was able to get into a much better flow. Maybe I could get on with this car after all.
It was a thrilling experience: I could feel my heart pounding away in my chest, my palms were starting to get a little sweaty, and my wide eyes were scanning the road ahead to assess the next corner. But, it was all just a bit too serious, as seems to be the case for most spirited outings in the M3. Yes, it’s exciting, but I’m not sure for the right reasons: the thrills are more of a ‘am I going to get home without ploughing into a hedge’ variety than anything else. This was reinforced by another snap of the back-end near the end of the drive, when I really wasn’t expecting it.
I found the RS4 far more fun to drive, and you have that reassurance that you can boot the hell out of it come rain or shine. It feels on your side, rather than the M3, which is an unruly beast that’ll bite back if you’re not careful.

I'd say the above is what he was experiencing! He brakes wayyyyyy later than me but corner exit speed I was nearly in his boot as he couldn't get the power down just kept sidestepping.
I love the car though, and few will drive it like that on a wet
