Common Fault BMW F10 F11 12v Cig Lighter Accessory 12v Fuse

Post by ROY » Fri Mar 28, 2014 12:31 pm

I've had a blown fuse now twice on mine and having scoured the internet for info it seems other owners are having issues too so here's how to find and replace it and save yourself £50

M5 F10
5 Series F10 / F11

Fault - Charging from all 12v supplies inside the car not working

The fuse box is located in the glove compartment behind a removable panel on the left hand side (not the fuse box in the boot)
Space is tight and even getting eyes on the fuse is a problem
Use the fuse tool and feel for the fuse location on the upper right hand side of the fuse box 3rd down (1st gap is a feels like a blank useless diagram shows it as 2nd down when really go for 3rd)

Fuse is number 54 on the diagram

Really?
I've read it again and even knowing the context it's still a very odd post. No mention if dealer or anything.
It looked like a reply more than thread start!

I've never heard of this so how common a fault is it?

Still unsure as to what the fix is as if yours has blown twice then surely it's not simply a Fuse fault?

TBH, i don't charge anything in mine as have the Advanced iPhone Cradle.

I think its either stuff in the center console shorting the 12v supply (e.g keys, loose change) or too many devices charging at once.
