Just picked up the M5 and OMG this thing is straight from hell
Will post a more detailed wright up when I've run it in but so far
Build quality is the just staggering the cabin is just pure class
Power is relentless it just rips the horizon towards you i bloody <beep> myself and thats in a straight line, the cars has most defiantly got more balls than me.
Handling is fairly nimble considering its almost 7 series size, cornering is weighted perfect and grip is very impressive
Economy 28mpg @ 85mph coming back from Stoke from a 2 ton car with 570bhp LOL how do they manage that
Sound is wicked, don't know what the guys who do the reviews are parping on about.
Looks LOL the ultimate bad ass car

Still taking it easy cause I'm not used to all the gizmos, size, handling and power but its nice to be back in a sorted car again, i was losing my mind in the TDi.

Pics to follow when the weather gets better LOL
Time to price up some winter tyres

Stonking. The M3 and the M5 look amazing.

How do BMW propose you run it in, 1000 miles? Its a bloody nightmare running in a fast car as that loud pedal needs mashing. Being restrained is not easy.

Also that fuel economy is terrific. I got a lot less in my new S5 driving from Maidstone to Bristol at 80mph.

1000 miles will soon baz past that
I'll book it in for weekend LOL

Took the long way to work this morning 20 miles instead of 1.5
Hehe
Boy this thing is BRUTAL and from what i have read its limited to 75% until its past the run in so god knows what its gonna be like once i can go past the recommended run in limits

Best colour and wheel combo IMO.

Had one over Xmas 2011, did about 1000 miles in it. Also had an RS5 the same week for a straight comparison. My fuel bill that week was bonkers!!!

Not sure about the 75% thing, the one I had was brand new and as it wasn mine I nailed it from day one

Afraid I don't agree on the sound though, sounded to false.

It was also bonkers and I almost lost in twice, in a straight line!!!!

Enjoy in good health.

I can tell you exactly where both incidents were too. One just past Stonehenge where I over took a merc. Was most of the way through the manoeuvre when the arse end went out towards the merc! To say he wasn't amused was an understatement. Luckily mrs new I had it under control but I could do without that kind of wake up call !

The other was on the bypass around my village that I've done thousands of times. Booted it off the roundabout no problem, continued to feed the power on and then it just snapped and headed towards the kerb! Again caught but as a road I've driven plenty of powerful cars in (including maclarens and f430s) I've never experienced that before and it was one of the reasons I don't like turbo charged cars!

Sorry OP don't want to piss on your fire just my experience over 1k miles and hence the reason I went for the '4'

I so wanted to love it and even the dealer agreed with some of my negative comments.

Had a play last night when the roads were quiet (conditions were wet/light snow) and this thing is Brutal just mental.
You can be travelling on the m/way at 80 mph (feels like 40) behind a car when it pulls over press the M2 silly button nail it and it goes into warp speed
Everything on the motorway seems to stand still or be going backwards its just unreal and thats changing early at 4500 rpm god knows what its like above that where the power is.

Think they may have changed the sound on 2013 (could be cause of complaints) i cant fault the sound, it doesn't sound like the B7 (best sounding car i ever owned) but i see what you mean it is a muffled no fuss bassy sound.
Maybe its the because at rolling speeds when you stab the loud pedal there is no warning no screaming from the V8 no down change required it just bellows a deep torque grunt and hits warp factor 7
(No shouts from scott saying she canno take anymore capt)
The thing is just relentless it reminds me of the first time (2004) when i test drove my C5 RS6 which had a similar feeling.

Think i'll try n get my hands on a go pro camera n take some vids.

Bet that made your arse twitch

You're right though the car needs respect plus you still have to remember its a 2 ton car and the weight will cause a few bum clenching moments.

I had a similar incident in the B7
I was heading down a dual carriageway chasing a mini cooper s entered a large empty roundabout and tried to follow the mini / bloody hell i nearly lost the RS and i wasn't even getting close to the mini i ended up in a 4W drift and swapped 2 lanes of 3 lane r/bout by the time i got grip back the mini was halfway down the slip road heading onto the M62 laughing his cock off.

Will do a few pics tomoz Trups
Downside to ordering a new one though is the 11 week wait.

Interesting characteristic I've noticed from the car over the past few days driving using paddles and everything set to Sport Plus
If you pull out from a junction quick blip in 1st then gun it in 2nd (make sure its dry FFS) but as you change to 3rd let off the gas - there is an almighty crack from the exhausts like a firecracker going off
LOL its getting addictive
Sounds like one of the old S2 Quattros
Must be a dump valve or something
Will try to record it
