Olympics over, football looming

Well, the Olympics are over, and despite me saying I wouldn't watch it, I got totally sucked in! But now the footy season is looming large so I wondered if anybody wanted to venture any predictions of who will win the big prizes?? I can't see past City for the PL again but as a passionate Liverpool fan the fact that Man U have bought Van Persie worries me a lot!

Chunky, I kind of hope Carroll stays too. I think he did enough at the end of last season to be given another chance. Not sure he fits into Rodgers style of play though.

He is trying to adapt and i think his ball control is really coming along. plus we have the best passer of the ball in mr g so he can put it on his head when needed

As an ex Streford Ender I hope Liverpool do just as badly as last season.

He'll be back in the Toon before September as part of our midweek European squad alongside Demba Ba with Papiss and Ben Arfa putting them in the net in the Premiership along with super sub Strolla Ameobi. Debuchy and Douglas on their way in too.

HWTL! We'll put the first nail in AVB's Spurs coffin on Saturday.

Next you'll be asking us to take Enrique back and Henderson!

Nah, keep them 2. Jordan will come good in time. I think Enrique is a good player.

I'd quite happily personally drive Charlie Adam to Newcastle or any other club for that matter. And I don't like RVP but he is a major plus for ManYoo. The Gooners must be gutted.

But, with Lucas back and Suarez seemingly settled, plus the new signings, I think (and hope) LFC might surprise a few people this season :drink: And feel free to rip me come May when that proves to be as wide of the mark as a Charlie Adam shot.

First of all, I have to register an interest, as I've been a Gooner for nearly fifty years.

Farewell RVP - you will be missed, but you could have had a bit more class about the manner of your leaving.

I honestly thought that you were an Arsenal man, through & through - how wrong I was.

Don't tell me that you've gone for "footballing reasons" & the need to win trophies, because MANU won precisely zilch last season.

Should've gone to MANCity....?

You will not get the service from a lacklustre MANU midfield that you did from us, but maybe SAF has something up his sleeve, wily old Govan man that he is.

Tell me that it's about the money & I'd believe you - and respect you, because every one of us would have done the same.

No player is bigger than the team.

Sure that Wenger will be hurting, but the £21M profit and 8 seasons usage will soften the blow.

Arsene pulls it off yet again. I'm sure that he gets a bigger kick from grooming football potential, and I'm sure that he takes it very personally when they want to leave.

Personally, I'm more concerned about the potential loss of Alex Song to Barcelona.

Cannot for the life of me understand the economics of "buying" a player at say £40M for a five year contract, when you're really only leasing them for four of those five years before they go for a better offer.

The Bosman pendulum swung too much in flavour of the player?

Wenger seems unwilling to break the wage structure - fair enough but, we have too many below par squad players on £60k per week & underperforming.
I've heard him talk about the Arsenal "collective" - well sorry PROF, but we're a football team, not a bloody Kibbutz.

Not crowing, but if you look at the stats, then Wenger is the only top six manager who turns a profit on player sales.

Arsenal is a well-run club, the same cannot be said of the profligacy of some of the other Premier League contenders?
It's not a level playing field.

Sure we haven't won a trophy in recent years, but The Invincible season will never be done again in my lifetime.

Stadium debt is being paid down (believe that it is less than £90M now - not a bad effort over six years.)

As much as I love my football, I think that some of these football "stars" should compare themselves to the Olympic athletes - and be found wanting.

I suppose that I perpetuate it by going to so many games each season?

Bring it on........

Now all we have to do is offload Denilson, & for the self-proclaimed best striker in the world, nobody has exactly, been knocking the door down to sign Bendtner?
Bendtner as a replacement for Ibrahimovic - don't make me laugh...? Who writes this stuff?

Please KernowPete - Take Walcott off our hands - I'll drive him to Anfield myself if it helps....

Now that's got that little lot off my chest........phew..
