Olympic Opening Ceremony

Post by Timster » Sat Jul 28, 2012 1:16 am

Mostly brilliant in my opinion. Good mix of heritage, humour and spectacle.

However.... WTF was crinkly McCartney doing closing this show ???
IS THIS THE BEST WE'VE GOT.

Yes... I said the same about the Jubilee too.

Olympic Opening Ceremony

Iv only just seen it on catch up TV, to be fair I though it was great! Well done.

However I agree, WTF was Mcartney doing, how many times have we heard him play that song... We should have put him in the Olympic cauldron.

Can't agree more about McCartney - he is such a boring barsteward.
- at exactly what point in a career do you realise that your audience has had enough?
- we must be almost there?
Can't stand all his "Peace...Love" claptrap.
I might believe it if I thought that he was remotely sincere?

Given my advancing years, I've seen quite a few of these opening ceremonies, but this is the only one I found remotely interesting
- just makes you realise how much Britain has given to the world?

Some of it was a bit "off the wall" mind you
- at one point, I thought that we were going to get a rendition of "Two World Wars and one World Cup......"
Great fun & I'm Scottish......

Thought that the TEAM GB "Elvis" outfits were a bit crass, though?

Hats off to the cast of 15,000 volunteers.

:thumb:

Cost of the ceremony? £27 MIL

Confirmed BBC audience 26.9 MIL - where else could you be entertained for just over a quid each?

Well done Danny Boyle & his cast of thousands

I also loved it. To the haters: you have to consider it as a production for the world audience, not just the UK. It really wasn't meant for us but for the billion or whatever other people who had the opportunity to see it. I think it was a great ambassador for metropolis London and secondarily Great Britain.

Oh FFS, Macca's daughter is on the telly now whining on about her Olympic costume designs.

Jeez, they've got it sown-up haven't they.

All we need now is for Heather to do some official Olympic b*llocks.

.... bah, grumble.

To be fair I found it quite interesting that it's not a case of slapping together stuff like I thought it was going to be but in some events they have very strict "dress codes" and will get marks awarded and taken off based on the costume.

So far very average. Loved the Olympics as a whole though. Found myself very choked many times when our athletes were on.

I thought it was good that Eric sang "life's a piece of sh!t".. with no word changes, to the world.

Overall pretty good. Some predictable rubbish like Spice Dogs and Take That.
The ubiquitous Jessy J looked well hot, didn't she.

Oh and the athletes are sooo much fitter with a bit of lippy on.
