Android phones - thoughts?

Post by drybeer » Sun Jun 24, 2012 9:57 pm

So after a few years of iphone dominance I thought I'd have a change...

I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note, the theory being that as Mrs. Drybeer and no. 1 son use my ipad it would work as phone cum tablet.

And there's lots that's good. But there's also so much adjustment to make from Apple simplicity.

Any one else done this? Any good tips?

I like my HTC Desire HD. Going to get one of those HTC One X things when I upgrade in October. Need a forward facing camera for Skype.

I looked at the HTC One X as the upgrade for my Desire but heard too much bad press about it. Screen issues, speed problems etc.

I imported the first Google Nexus phone a while back when it was the latest and greatest Android phone. Kept it or 24 hours then sold it. I didn't think I'd get used to it so sold it (for a small profit) and went back to my iPhone.

I want to play with android for a while, give it and me a second chance so I've just ordered a Nexus 7 tablet. Let's see how it goes...

Well I suppose you can wait a few months and get the (supposed) seven inch iPad Mini or whatever it may be. Sounds likely it will happen.

I reckon I'll be a bit more successful on Android this time around. I wouldn't chance it as a phone again though - I like my iPhone too much. I'm a big fan of Apple designs: I use a Mac Pro for work and a MacBook Air for play/travel. Having said that, I don't like the iPad: overpriced and over compromised.

I use chrome on everything, gmail is my email aggregator and google calendar is the best thing since sliced bread so jumping back onto an android shouldn't be hard.

...quelle surprise - the TNT man just delivered a Nexus 7 sized box as I was typing. Wish me luck...! :boots:
